We will never get a high pick for him...this isn't Madden!!!! Some are saying the best we could hope is a 3rd this year and maybe a 2nd in next years draft!!!! That is not good enough my friend....that isn't going to cut it!!!

foolish to think otherwise
I would be surprised if he is not gone by the end of the week.

Also if brown is let go...I see this changing our draft big time!!!!!
I think you should buy a Bushrod jersey, he will more than likely be your starting LT.

We could use another draft pick or two.

not as much as we could use a pro bowl LT

draft picks are gambles and we most likely wouldnt be able to replace brown with any of the picks we gain

not worth trading if we dont have a viable backup option.....and bushrod is not the answer no matter how many times people say "we won the super bowl with him"

Yeah, well I was responding to your statement that no one would give up something we need. I don't think we want to give him the big long term contract he is looking for and we don't want to let him walk next year as an UFA.

Make no mistake, the team is going to try to trade him this week.

my point was that a draft pick is not as valuable as a proven pro bowl LT

we wont shop him despite this report that he is on the trading block....if anything it is being reported because of the contract discrepancy

however.....brown hasnt even signed his tender and cant even be traded until after he does that......many reports have him skipping offseason workouts because of the contract dispute so i cant see him signing the tender before the draft

Re: Report: Saints LT Jammal Brown is on the trading block.

Looking at it another way, he really is not in a contract dispute. He will sign his tender when the time is right to enable the trade to go through. Signing now would give away some (but not necessarily all) of his leverage in a trade.

As for not participating in OTA's, I think this is another sign he will be traded. You see this frequently with players who are about to be traded, I don't think he is "refusing" so much as he is participating in the effort to trade him. No one wants to risk an injury at this point.

This idea of Brown being traded did not orginate with the yahoo who wrote this article, in fact he is late to the party.

im in complete agreement with the last part

i dont think it is because he has "inside info".....i think the report is because brown is going to sit until he gets what he wants

i also believe its possible that he is waiting for a serious trade partner before he signs.....in this way he has some kind of say in who he may get traded to because he doesnt have to sign until he wants to

having said that......the saints understand the importance of talented offensive linemen as evidenced by the contract extension to jon stinchcomb and the talks with jahri evans

they know his value and understand that most teams will not give up what it takes to acquire such a talent

Tell you what -- if Brown is not traded (or a deal in place waiting approval) by the end of the week I will use the shocked monkey as my avatar. If he is trade, well you know the deal.

BTW, I agree that they may not find someone willing to pay fair value and their willingness (or non willingness) may be moot.
