Re: The Missing Pieces for a Rep
Agreed, I like the combination of Thomas and Hamilton for short yardage. If we can find a short yardage specialist who can also contribute to special teams effectively, then use an active roster spot on them. If not, then I think the backs we have are more than good enough to get the job done. Keep in mind that even when Mike Bell was healthy as the season went on, Hamilton was taking short yardage carries over Bell.

Re: The Missing Pieces for a Rep
what everyone is saying is a great concern in 2010, but i look what took place in the draft and whats going on in the front office now, seems coach payton and mickey don't seem worried at all. all i can say is that our offense better fire with no coughs are sperts because we do have the bulls eye planted on our backs. and on defense G.W. has been re-evaluating the de-line for a different approach.

If the FO feels that we have the players in house (and based on the draft, it seems they do) to continue to improve, then Ill take it.

Re: The Missing Pieces for a Rep
I picked DT, and I will tell you why. We have some guys, coming back from injury, that we don't even really know how they are going to look at LB. With the loss of Grant, (which I can't believe I'm going to say this), who was good at stopping the run, we need another space eater next to Ellis. Now, who knows, Woods could be that guy. Lord knows he's big enough. But I wouldn't mind signing some insurance, to make sure. If we get another all pro DT, then skies the limit. But let's also remember, that when Ellis got hurt last year, teams were running all over us. God forbid, but what if Ellis goes down again? Are you THAT confident in the other DTs we have on the roster? I'm not.

Re: The Missing Pieces for a Rep
DE - Good play on the edges will open up alot of opportunities for our defense. If we can bottle up the ends and send runners deep or force them inside, we can create advantages on the early downs. Defense is still the key for a Saints repeat. I believe our interior will be fine. Speed on the outside, good power rusher and/or an active LB to help Vilma. I tossed a coin (DE vs LB) and it fell on DE. What ever we do, it needs to be done up front.

While losing Fujita was a serious loss to the team, I feel that Shanley has what it takes to fill in there. The Defensive end position is where my concern is. If we cant maintain pressure on quarterbacks we mine as well call it a day.

Re: The Missing Pieces for a Rep
I voted DE cause I'm not satisfied with 2 stop gap players and none are disruptive like Hughes could have been or one of the others we could have had. I also voted DT because we need a talent next to Sed Ellis to make this a solid line. I then voted for OLB which was only listed as LB but we are severely lacking speed at the second level. Next I voted S because if we are going to keep MJ at corner now that Sharp has resigned, we need his replacement on the team to get him ready, and though I like Harp at SS, he could really be upgraded with more speed and cover ability.
