Saints, Redskins agree on Brown deal

The Washington Redskins and New Orleans Saints have agreed on a deal for Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jammal Brown, according to a team source.

The trade is subject to a physical. Brown flew to Washington mid-afternoon Saturday, and was scheduled to undergo the physical later in the day.

The Saints' compensation in the deal is tied to the Redskins' trade with the Eagles for quarterback Donovan McNabb.

I hope this is correct. Get one more distraction out of the way and concentrate on some real football.

The Washington Redskins continue their massive offseason overhaul.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Saints and Redskins are on the verge of a trade that would send Saints two-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jammal Brown to Washington for a conditional draft pick.

It's official! He's got to pass his physical!! We'll recieve a Conditional pick for him. Better than him leaving Scott free next year with us not recieving anything for him; I'll take it.thank you redskins!

Yeah, sites are reporting it's not for Haynesworth. thank God. We don't need that cancer.

Eh, was kinda hoping this wouldn't happen since Jammal is a lot better than Bushrod, but we did win a ring with Bushrod so it's not that bad.

My boy Charles will take over eventually.

OT Jammal Brown landed in Washington minutes ago. He is scheduled to undergo his physical today. If he passes, the trade will be complete. about 1 hour ago via UberTwitter

SKINS already gave up their 4th and possible 3rd for McNabb depending on performance. Does this mean we get a 2nd or 1st?? We'll shall seeeeeeee.

I hear it is tied to the McNabb trade, which would make it a fourth or third round pick. I know I'm going to get some heat for saying this, but I really don't like this trade at all.

Wow, the Saints really didn't get what this guy is worth. This is a horrible trade, but since Brown really seemed to want out I guess it's good the Saints moved him.

I thought we'd get at least a second rounder! I guess it's better than him holding out, and us getting no compensation for him next year.I don't like the trade.

next years draft is supposed to be pretty weak as well. i was hoping for haynesworth.

The Saints got robbed. Sounds like a move up in the 2011 draft a few rounds. At best. And for an All Pro OT? Puulleeeaazzeee.

Re: Saints, Redskins agree on Brown deal

Good trade. Brown's days as a Saint were done. He missed all of last year and has knees that may last 5 years or 5 minutes. The deal gives the Saints a good shot at a 3rd rounder or a guaranteed 4th. The Saints won the Super Bowl with Bushrod. My opinion is he can only get better. Both teams and Brown should be happy.

and for those who were saying we wouldn't trade a probowl 1st round pick for a linebacker or defensive tackle, technically your were right but we might get as low as a 4th rounder out of this so untechnically you were wrong as hell. I mean all the skins have to do is win 9 games, or make the playoffs or McNabb to the probowl, pretty damn good odds. I would've much rather landed a good DT or Linebacker that we can use now instead of another BS pick that's probably about 50/50 to work out at all.

Relax people .... JB was a holding call waiting to happen and another knee injury away from a carbon copy of last year. He has not contributed in a while. At least we got rid of a discontent and got probably third rounder. And we have been good at the middle rounds of late.

I am inclined to agree with this..........

We should have gotten at least a 3R pick; and sending a pick back?!? What the hell is that?!?

If Shanahan is back to his stubborn ways, freeze him out of trades and then they'll be more reasonable...

Saints are getting laxed in the wake of their post Superbowl Victory...

Re: Saints, Redskins agree on Brown deal

the redskins arent a lock to win 9 games. looking at their schedule they play houston, green bay, indy, tennessee, and minnesota, outside of their divison. granted they have st louis, jacksonville and tampa as well, but their division in no walk in the park.

also there are some pretty good qbs in the NFC that will get probowl votes..brees, favre, rodgers, romo always get a ton of votes. granted brees wont be playing if they have the probowl between the nfccg and the sb again.

what im trying to say is its not a given that they will meet the criteria and i can definitely see this ending up as a 3rd rounder.

Re: Saints, Redskins agree on Brown deal

Didn't get much out of the trade, but at least we got something. We obviously weren't going to sign JB to a new deal anyway, so let Snyder blow his dollars.

Re: Saints, Redskins agree on Brown deal

I don't like malcontents. He's a good player, but good riddance. I want people who want to be here. JB thought he was bigger than the team, so I'm glad he's gone. A third or fourth isn't bad, but not great for a really good tackle. Overall I'm glad we can move on now. We have a pretty good tackle in Bushrod, and one to groom in the future in CB.

True enough... besides.. the days of getting a number one pick are likely over ... unless it is a franchise player...
I think the Saints have turned the corner as a franchise. We just might be turning into a New England after all.

Re: Saints, Redskins agree on Brown deal

hate to say it, but this was obviously the best we were going to get; I mean, it's been 4 months.

the tie-in with McNabb makes little sense to me, although we had that similar strange situation with the Vilma and Shockey trades

Oh well, cheer for JB to miss a block, let McNabb get clocked, and then we'll get our 3rd

this is complete BS. everyone was hoping we wouldnt end up with haynesworth. well i can promise you this no third or fourth round pick will be as good as haynesworth. we got hosed on this deal. im happy to get this fragile piece of garbage off the team, but with a 4th or a 3rd?!?!?!?!? Please... I guess i have to stomach it...loomis has to make a mistake every once in a while

Locker room and team chemistry does not have a price tag. I am fine with this move. Hope it's a 3rd, but either way it is an obstacle in the rear view mirror now. Move on.

Re: Saints, Redskins agree on Brown deal

Terrible trade. It's likely we'll wind up with a 4th round pick and have to send a 6th or 7th to Washington. This is not good value for Brown who, despite his injury last year, was our best OT by far.
