You had to see this coming from a mile away. I saw this even before the draft when they added yet another CB. It seems he has now accepted playing safety, but I think he'll play some CB again in the future when the situation calls for it...especially this year which has to be Sharper's last.

Yup, I seem to remember Payton mentioning the same with him quick transitioning to free safety and playing spot packages at CB as needed.

Looking good and getting all the assignments and making the correct decisions on the practice field is great. But, it's a LONG way from being the player a healthy Sharper is.

I like the kid, but I agree. Sharper plays at a different level when he's 100%, and we'll miss that badly if he isn't.

As long as we can keep Young off the field then I'm happy. I want Sharper on the field, but I do believe that Jenkins will do fine if GW puts him in. Hopefully, we can see them both on the field at the same time in some exotic defensive package.

But so is a gimpy Sharper. If he's only 80%, he would become ineffective and a liability. Young's weakness is his quickness or lack thereof. If he would take the Sharper crash course in reading offenses, and get a passing grade, he would do fine. He has the size and speed to be an effective defender and ball hawk in passing situations. Sharper just needs to show him how to cheat and not get caught. Pressure up front will also give our newbies a leg up in coverage.
