Anyone else concerned
I am a little worried about Shock. The guy is having knee issues already- how in the world is he going to make it through the season? Just wondering if anyone is as worried as me. How long till the kid from Miami can start to make an impact?

Re: Anyone else concerned
I'm not worried, because of the depth this team now has at TE. David Thomas played admirably last season, and Jimmy Graham could possibly step in and be productive as a rookie. I doubt the team carries four TE's, but you could also take a look at "Big Time" Billy Miller or Tory Humphrey as a 3rd option if Shockey goes down for any length of time. I do feel that Shockey's time in New Orleans is short, though. I believe that as soon as his contract is up, he's history.

Re: Anyone else concerned
It's part of the game to coddle players to get them through the year. It's nothing new and Payton like to rest his injured players and get reps for the back ups. He looked real good at practice Saturday morning though.

Agreed. Shockey's style of play makes him prone to aches and pains. I don't think giving him some rest up time at this stage is reason for concern.

Re: Anyone else concerned
No concern here. Coach P really hates seeing his guys get injured in pre-season, let alone camp. He rested him to give his knee a break. He certainly wouldn't be held out of a game right now. Payton is going to be cautious with his starters.

Re: Anyone else concerned
not worried- even injured Shockey plays well- look at the playoffs & SB
as far as 'practice' I am fine if he takes the Iverson approach |

Re: Anyone else concerned
Typical veteran rest. Payton sits him for "sore" knees...
I think this is probably the norm for aging vets. Shockey certainly doesn't need 2-a-days like the younger players. He'll probably be "part-time" all training camp. But I do think he's becoming a bit fragile. |
