Words with Adrian Arrington
After practice, I was able to catch up with wide receiver Adrian Arrington who has been working hard this offseason and looks to have truly improved. Arrington has spent the past two years trying to make the team but ended up in IR and then the practice squad. He has ideas on how this could finally be his year.
~ With the injuries really forcing you from making the team the past couple years, how are you feeling so far about making the team this season? "I feel pretty good. The biggest thing I really have to do is just stay healthy. I cannot make any mental mistakes in practice. If I'm healthy and able to get out on that field going full strength then mental mistakes are the last thing I need." ~ You're really looking great out there so far in the first couple days of camp. "Thank you, I appreciate that. For me, if I can't happen to make it totally at wide receiver then special teams is where it's at. I've got to really impress on special teams and show them what I can do." ~ So right now you're fully healthy? "Oh yeah, 100%." ~ Some guys are still calling the Super Bowl season a fluke for the Saints. How does it feel hearing that as you go into this title defense season? "I know that most teams out there are looking out for us. Many guys I've talked to around the league and coaches are looking at our film and looking at their schedules to know exactly when they play us. No-one is going to underestimate us because we are the team. They know we are the team to beat and that's how they feel. We're the guys to beat and no-one is going to overlook us so we've got to be ready for all of them." The man speaks true, and if there is anyone out on that field I want to see make the squad this year, it's Arrington. He has truly worked harder than everyone else out there and then some. He's got the talent and skills, but he may be right in needing to break through on special teams to make the cut because the amount of Saints' wide receiver talent is insurmountable. |
