Glass half empty?

I tend to look at things as the glass being half full most of the time. However, at present, with Sharper and Ingram I am sensing the glass is half empty.

Payton said there are three options for both;

1. put them on the 53 man roster
2. PUP
3. Waive

I do not see #1 happening as the Saints would be on the "hook" for their entire salary for the year if they go on the 53 for week one. Plus they take up two roster spots from "HEALTHY" players.

This leaves #2 and #3.

#2 PUP, shelves them for six weeks into the schedule...with no guarantee. Pay their salaries for six weeks with no assurances they can get on the field.

#3 Waivers. Payton is not very subtle. This may very well be the only option at this point. They could resign both at any point after the first game and not be on the "hook" for their annual salary. Plus, who is going to claim two gimpy legged players?

Anybody else with a half glass viewpoint?

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over, over, and over again...and expecting a different outcome!

I don't have an opinion on Ingram but I have a funny feeling Sharper is a Go for game time against the Vikes.

With really nothing to go on for Ingram, I wouldn't be surprised if they outright cut him, but I think Sharper will probably be put on the PUP list. Maybe Ingram will be put on the PUP list as well, but we'll have to see.

I agree with Euph. I think Sharper is ready to go. All smoke and mirrors.

I think I saw what you saw, Payton said they were both finally making some noticeable progress, and the evals would commence beginning now.

I have seen pictures of Sharper on the sidelines with a huge knee brace and/or riding a bicycle. Does that count as being on the practice field?

I can give Sharper the benefit of doubt and say he doesn't need practice at this stage in his career, however it's not looking too good for him. I still do not believe he makes the opening day roster and feel he is going to go on the pup list. I seriously hope my prediction is wrong and that he is a go for the Vikings game. As for Ingram, I just don't know much about him to form an opinion. The Saints aren't exactly loaded at LB, so that should help his cause.

Who cares? If they aren't healthy then they cant play, and why would we want them anyway? Go with the better options of healthy players. They will probably just roll the dice on someone else not signing them and cut them in hopes of picking them up later in the year. Im about over Sharper anyway.
