Saints courting Lakers PG Derek Fisher

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't understand all this bull. Why do they need a pep-rally? Why do they need a motivational speech? They are reigning SB champs...are they not? I would think that people would be hiring them to go give motivational speeches ...

The boys definitely won't get any motivation from this hate mongering thread...Fisher is a repeater coming in to talk about repeating. Just let it be as simple as that, and then keep it simple.

Grrrrrrrr ... don't be talking smack about Fish. We're all champions, why can't we just get along?!

He's the glue that holds the Lakers together, a total warrior. As a sports fan and a Lakers fan, he is on the same plateau to me as Brees. Strong words, but that is how I feel. My kids love Fisher and the way he plays the game. He is a total team player and completely free of any drama. Shame on whoever's claiming he bailed on Utah and misrepresented his daughter's medical problems. Larry Miller elected to let Fish out of his contract due to his family situation, that's how it went down.

He doesn't have the talent of Kobe or Carmelo, but he gets by on smarts, hustle, guts and belief. He's a physical player with great conditioning who rarely misses games even though he draws a ton of charges and dives to the floor and sidelines for loose balls. He's one of the few players who could actually have made it in the NFL with his physical nature, drive and passion. Don't let one or two negative moments cloud your judgement.

If Payton wants him to speak to the Saints, fine by me. Not many other players out there have experienced trying to repeat in the face of distractions and hoopla that goes on around LA - and has been the calming force and clutch performer that helps make repeats possible.

I just wish it was Phil Jackson visiting - I think some zen rubbing off on the team would even be more beneficial.

Neugey ... You are correct that Larry H Miller (LHM) let him out of his contract, BUT --- that's because LHM was a COMPLETE family man ... He believed Fisher when he said it was because he wanted to take care of his daughter ...

Look, I don't personally care about Fisher, but the facts are the facts --- the guy has been on Kobe's balls for years now ... He's a follower/cheap shot and lacks integrity ... Say what you want, but those are the facts. Watch any game that he is involved in. Helluva player, but cheap as hell.

If Fisher is cheap, then I am buying

Maybe Payton is getting a little carried away w/ the guest speakers ... but hey it's his team and this is what he thinks is right.
