Fighting that dreaded late season catastrophies... come out flat. Get the players motovated and have them pull together and work to win. Working towards the middle of the season to win. Where in previous years come out string and die at the end of the season, looking as if they were expected to win and didn't know what happened. Hmmmm....

No, I do not think that was the plan. I think we all might have underestimated Jim Haslett.
Here is what Marv Levy had to say about Haslett --

I don\'t think too many people are surprised that the Saints didn\'t start the season well, with all the changes on defense. The surprise was how poorly the offense has executed (until yesterday-- great job, AB and Co-- may the solid execution continue!).
Given the Saints\' inconsistent play the last couple of years, it\'s almost better (not really better, but better in some ways) that they struggled early. If they can win most of the next several division games, they\'ll be in good position to make a playoff run, but at the same time, they\'ll have enough losses that they won\'t be able to sit back and take it easy like they did the second half of last year. Here\'s hoping the lack of success early has lit a fire that will keep burning, and they can carry some positive momentum into the p---- . OK, I\'m not going to use the P-word yet. GO SAINTS! |
