I agree Scott, the point is AP is a premier back, and the Vikes have a decent offense. Favre does not look comfortable with his receivers. The D could have been part of the reason of him not looking comfortable, such as the adjustment made in covering Shiancoe. For a first game of the year, not a bad showing. I do see the LB concerns too, will be exploited if something isn't done.

The defense looked good. Anytime you hold any team in the NFL to 10 points or less, you did your job. Yes, the Vikings looked out of sorts. Favre looked like a less than healthy 41 year old QB. They missed their top reciever in Rice. They missed C. Taylor. Harvin looked like he and Favre haven't practiced much. I personally think the Jenkins hit had more to do with it. But, Vilma is a beast. Greer is the real deal. Harper had a great game. With only 3 DT's on the roster, they kept Peterson as much in check as anyone can. Shanle and Dunbar showed up. Jenkins held his own. Overall I would give them an A.

I didn't think we blitz'd nearly enough. That was a little puzzling considering every time we did, it rattled Farve.
I didn't like the package where we had Mitchell lined up 12 yards down the field playing like a safety. Even though on that one instance it worked out for us, that could have been disastrous. He had no safety help over the top, he's not fast, and he shouldn't have to play centerfield... he's a true MLB, not a hybrid linebacker. Other than that, I thought we played great. We held the Minnesota Vikings to 9 points... 9 frickin' points. We held the great Adrian Peterson under 100 yards... so what if he pulls a bunch of 4 yarders? He doesn't it to everyone. He's a man child that keeps his legs churning at the point of attack. We did a good job containing him. |
