Are the Saints walking right into a Golden Gate-sized trap?
The trap game. It's a common thing in the world of football and every single year, multiple teams fall victim to it. If they're lucky, they can chalk it up sometimes as a meaningless loss. Other times though, it can ruin an entire season.
Some of you may not fully understand what a "trap game" so please let me explain. Take a team (we'll call them Team A) and have them go into a three game stretch at some point during their season. The first game they play is against a very good and hard to beat team, but they win. The third game in the series is also against a very difficult team and could mean Team A is looking forward to it in order to make sure they are prepared. Then there is that middle game which would end up being against a mediocre or poor team. Game number two would be considered the "trap game." Team A would maybe take the poor team for granted or just keep their focus on that third, more difficult game all the while not really worrying about the second. In turn, Team A goes out and performs in a lazy fashion or not one up to their abilities and end up losing to the poor team. Team A fell right into a trap. read more | |
