Falcons fan here

Thought I would say "Hi" and give some perspective from Falcon fans here.
We are very happy to get the win. It is such a big deal for us because beating the World Champion Saints legitimizes the team for the FANS here as being a "good" team. Most of us did not expect to win but did expect to play the Saints close after seeing the 49ers run on the Saints. A few of you have remained very classy with the loss and addressed the issues that the Saints need to work on...props for that. Hopefully it will be another good game when they meet again in the Ga Dome. The Niners nearly beat the Saints so I hope the Falcons dont try to coast thru this weekends game...I doubt they will. The Saints will face a lot of running this weekend but nothing Brees and company cant easily overcome.
The Saints have a pretty easy stretch coming up even without Bush in the mix. With him coming back later, I think it may be a good thing for the Saints to not have him now. He will be on fresh legs for the harder opponents and be just the thing to energize the team in the stretch.

lol...no....I get robbed by Comcast like everyone else

I did live in E. Baton Rouge Parish for a bit in the "lean" years so it's nice to see people pissed about losing instead of accepting it as "the usual".

Classy post, welcome aboard.

I go back a long way with the Saints, even before the Dome Patrol years in the 90's. (no I'm not 100 yrs old, just been a fan since I can remember)

Falcon's / Saints has ALWAYS been a great rivalry game that is hard fought. The Falcons came to the Dome last year and it was a huge fight. Lots of people don't remember the Falcons beating the Saints with "Big Ben", nor do they remember the long stretch where the Falcons didn't beat the Saints for year during the Dome Patrol years.

Sunday the Saints faltered some with some stupid mistakes, came back strong and handed the game off with a "free kick" - but that's how the ball bounces, the Saints didn't execute when needed, the Falcons did. The Falcons won fair and square and honestly it was a great NFL game to watch.

As for a rivalry, I honestly like the visiting Falcon fans who jive a whole lot but seem to high five and josh around with us to have fun. I remember busses of Falcon fans coming to the Dome to see the game.

You guys played a great game and won, congrats - but watch out, the second Saints/Atl meeting in the Georgia Dome will (hopefully) be revenge for the Saints. Let's hope both teams do well this season so it's a fight for NFC supremacy.

I remember long ago (Fulton County Stadium long ago...) when either one or both teams stunk bad, even then it was always a barn burner.

Just glad the Saints are considered "good" because, like Falcon fans can of their old teams, I remember a time when we weren't considered serious contenders.

oh LAWD you do go way back!!! Back then the Falcons/Saints would fight for who got the #1 draft pick
Saints/Falcons has always been a great rivalry if only to their fans. Lately we have been on the wrong end of the beating stick so its nice to get to crow a little.....as you guys know.

We dont thank Hartley. The game wasnt over after he missed was it just like it wasnt over after DeCouds punt return blunder. Was it automatic that the Falcons would go down the field and get a FG themselves? Nope there was football still to be played. Bryant made a clutch kick...especially after that penalty.
Rematch should be another good game. Hopefully neither team will be hampered by injuries. it would suck if we basically took each other out with injuries.

Welcome cablebandit. Our board is pretty much people who have lives, so you wont get much drama.

I remember all this stuff too, Halo, back in the days when we BOTH sucked. Yet beating the Falcons would make you smile, and I'm sure ATL enjoyed beating us too. I remember William Andrews and Bartkowski, and that kicker who was really a bartender, who just tried out one day, and became a sensation. I want to kick the Falcons butts, but you know, I rooted for you against Dallas (and I live in Texas), and those damn 49ers. Im old enough to still dislike the 49ers. (before the re-alignment)

I too enjoy your fans coming to town and partying, and talking junk, but boy, there was this one lady Sunday walking out of the Dome who 90% of her butt was showing, and it was not pretty. I always tell them, "see you in a few weeks....."

Welcome!!!!!

Talk about old timers . . . I remember the days of Tom Fears, Billy Kilmer and Dan Abramowicz. I was jumping up and down when we drafted Archie in '78! Now that is an old timer for you!

Idiot... we drafted Archie with the 2nd pick in round 1 in 71.

After his college career at U of M, Manning was drafted in the 1971 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints with the second overall selection.

Wow...that' a pleasant surprise. Pretty much 100% of my friends are Falcons fans (born in NO, raised in ATL) and I can't tell you how many ignorant messages about the SAints I got this weekend. Anyway, congrats on the win......and thank Garrett Hartley..lol
