New Orleans Saints DC Gregg Williams takes partial blame for fine imposed on S Malcolm Jenkins

The NFL fined New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins $10,000 this week for an out-of-bounds hit he made on Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman last week but defensive coordinator Gregg Williams said he is partly to blame for the tackle, which he said deserves no apology.

"It's probably my fault, in all honesty," Williams said. "One of the things that happened was the night before the game I showed a clip that showed that quarterback on three different teams he's running out of bounds, and everybody slows down, and he runs for about four, five, six, eight, ten one time 12 more yards before he goes out of bounds because everybody slows down."
Consequently, Williams said he gave explicit marching orders to the Saints defenders that they not make the same mistake.
"We're going to defend every blade of grass," he said. "Not every inch, but every blade of grass.

Fair enough comment. Thought someone mentioned this during the game chat room.
Maybe the NFL should tell officials to mark the spot where the defence raise an arm to indicate they could take a player out but won't under the no-hit rule. And that will be the spot for the next down.

Just think, after a while we could graduate to flag football.
