this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Anybody else notice the Saints cut arguably their best DT and it doesn't even make the ESPN and CBS headlines. I should be used to this by now....

ESPN CBS Snub Saints... AGAIN
Don\'t hold it against \'em tweeky. Everybody (not including Saintz08) saw this coming. Personally I don\'t see it as \"big\" news at all if you\'ll pardon the pun. He\'s been a distraction from day one, and if Haz has proven anything it\'s that he won\'t keep guys like that around.

ESPN CBS Snub Saints... AGAIN
The Saints weren\'t entirely snubbed by ESPN. The following comes from John Clayton\'s \"Quick Hits\":
Nov. 4, 2003 Whitehead collapses Talk about putting everything into a game. Saints defensive lineman Willie Whitehead was so exhausted from his three-sack game against the Bucs that he collapsed when the team arrived at the airport. Whitehead had to be taken to a hospital in Tampa where he had to stay overnight. Whitehead collapsed coming off the team bus. He was suffering from dehydration. It was his career best game. Saints waive Jackson Garcia out, Rattay in The Saints didn\'t want to waste any more time dealing with defensive tackle Grady Jackson, who was suspended for a game for not showing up the team hotel before a home game. Jackson angered the Saints management during the offseason by not showing up at many of the offseason training sessions. He also angered them by missing a few appointments for surgery to fix damaged ligaments around a pinkey. After Jackson returned from his suspension, Jim Haslett decided to move in a different direction even though Jackson is a valuable run-stopping tackle. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/index# It may not be headlines, but at least it\'s something... ESPN CBS Snub Saints... AGAIN
It is the Haslett definition of distraction , I think I have issues with .
Color me blonde , I do not see how Dungy can coach through Vanderjack and Manning chewing each other to shreds in the media and keep his team together and a player putting on some weight with Haslett is a big issue . Player put some weight on - run it off his lard butt ..... Player cannot tackle - make him a center point in tackling drills . Grady is not a top 10 tackle . But he is solid in the middle and this is mid season .Sitting him a game or 2 might have been an option to . |

ESPN CBS Snub Saints... AGAIN
Jackson did not play in the Panthers\' game because of an injury to the small finger of his left hand. He had surgery on the finger that week to reattach the ligament. Even though Jackson was not playing, he was still supposed to report to the hotel the night before the game.
Jackson, who was drawing weekly fines for being overweight, was in the final year of a two-year contract. He was scheduled to make a base salary of $1 million this season, meaning he forfeited approximately $58,200. |
