We turned off DirecTV 2 years ago. No cable, no satellite. Just an antenna on the roof and Netflix.
We have never regretted it. We watch Netflix streaming using the Internet and a Samsung Netflix enabled DVD plus we watch the DVD's. The only commercials I see are during football games. Saints games I watch at the bar with 100 of my fellow Saints fans. I watch a few other football games using the antenna at the house. My DirecTV bill is now my bar tab for Saints games at the bar and I never spend it all. No ESPN. I think ESPN is the male version of Oprah, Maury Povich, and Jerry Springer. I travel a lot and get exposed to ESPN in restaurants and bars and quite often I have told the waitress to turn off the volume or I was leaving. Only an addle-brained dimwit could watch the afternoon ESPN lineup and derive enjoyment from it. |
