What ever happened to Kaare Johnson?
Or was it Corey? I used to love to hear him analyze the Saints. I thought after Buddy D passed he would take the reins. I really have a hard time listening to Bobby and Hokie. They sound like a bunch of yokals and always talk over each other. They just don't entertain me in the way Buddy D did, and break down the performance the way Corey did. We need another guy to do the point after.

Karre Johnson was horrible. He's one of the few that made Deke and Bobby sound great.
WWL would return from their 10 minute commercial break, and Karre would then tell you very slowly who was previously on his show, and then tell you very slowly who was was going to be on later, then tell you very slowly the topics he had discussed, then tell you very slowly the topics he plans on discussing... then speaks about 50 seconds on Saints information and opinion... and then off to another 10 minute WWL commercial break. If you added up all his real Saints discussion over a two hour show it wouldn't exceed 10 minutes. I honestly could not think of a worse Saints show than his. I'd get more Saints info from an Atlanta Falcon radio show. You must be thinking of someone else 504State. |

I can't believe WWL can't find two guys better than Deke and Bobby. I really like Detillier but I don't know if he'd wanna go full-time. I'm over Hoakie now. Two days after an LSU game they're analyzing what happened, and Hoakie says he didn't watch the game, did not see any replays, and did not even read about the game. Are you f'ing kiddin' me??? The flagship station for Saints and LSU and the "expert analyst" doesn't know anything about the game? Doesn't even read about it? Hokie has a likable personality but is woefully unprepared. Thats unacceptable and embarrassing. |

Kory was horrible. Deke is horrible. We need an upgrade in the booth as badly as we do at weakside LB.

WWL need to really start courting some real local sports analyst, Kaare was HORRIDDDD and slow, and by him stretching his segments longer than they should i think he has a little control over the commercials because he watches the time before the next commercial so it seems he seems to stretch out something longer than it need to be just trying to get through the day by pouring us a slooow as molasses cup of information everytime he'd come on until his time his up he didnt seem like he was into it.
no one does really, although Bobby does add some personality to the show so i say keep him around for the long route, besides i think he actually own's the sports show anyway so he's not going anywhere. |

One of my long running beefs...New Orleans definitely lags behind many other NFL cities, in terms of 'professional' sports analysis/commentary to go with its AMAZING team...it's a problem with being a small market, and who/where we are regionally....I was truly sad when Buddy D passed, but I honestly thought that after he was gone, we might have a chance to get someone really good in there, someone fresh and modern, and that with the new coaches and new attitude in the team organization, I thought that Saints sports coverage on the radio might get an upgrade as well. I was wrong.
Don't mistake me, I loved Buddy D and listened to him for years and years, even waaay back on TV...but I honestly felt like, towards the end, the negativity thing on his show the last few years was kinda unhealthy....just the combo of him slurring words, and then Kenny Wilkerson in the losing locker room with another hushed somber report, and the waves of negative callers after each loss, getting progressively drunker as the night wore on...I'm not blaming them in any way for what happened on the field, but during the Haslett era it just sorta fed on itself in a really negative way...a bad cycle...self fulfilling prophesy...unpleasant...it got so I couldn't even listen anymore. Kaare had a bit of that negativity thing about him as well...can't really blame him, we all were traumatized by growing up here with the Saints! But I feel like there is no room for any of that old negativity or bad vibes anymore in our media; we've outgrown that. That's why I kinda like Bobby even though he's a buffoon. The big problem for us fans now, is that the Saints are winning, and as long as they keep winning, the ad dollars will keep coming in, meaning more and MORE ads, and there probably won't be any big changes in programming at WWL. But man, we really DO need an upgrade on the local radio, to take this team into the 21st century! I honestly don't really listen to it anymore, except for in the car going to and from the home games. |
