Voted all 3.
Bush has one year left on his contract; owed 11.3 million. I know it's getting to be a Saints cliche, but Reggie really does bring a lot more to the table than just what you get when he touches the ball. Ivory runs like a mack truck with a fiberglass body. He's not fragile, but he takes huge risks with his body, and I guess he'll just have to keep paying the price. So that, to me, is where thomas comes in. Good, solid runner, always churning for yardage, but careful enough to be durable. We've seen what has happened this year when we are out 2 of the 3... rb is a big injury position, and between that and our manic offensive style, I think we need all the high-quality rbs we can get. |

I agree with whoever said safety in numbers. Pay Pierre, Give Reggie 7.5 million and keep Ivory on his rookie deal.

Thomas is already gone in my book. He is an average RB, he isn't really fast, he doesn't run really hard. He has good vision thou but that description fits a whole lot of runningbacks. I think he could be let go an replaced by Hamilton or Hill next year. I think Bush will be back but at a lower salary thats more tied to performance. Ivory is a no-brainer for me. Get him on an NFL offseason program and he will get more durable.

there's no team out there that will pay bush the 11 mill either so we will restucture the contract so we can afford all 3.

I'd like all three, but Bush has to take a pay cut and Thomas can't get "Jackson money."

Payton does not put big money on RB's - and before you say anything, Reggie is more than a RB...
We saw Mike Bell the odd man out last year. I think that's Julius Jones this year. Ivory has proven a ton in limited roles. Not bad for an UDFA. Our scout RB's will have another chance to crack the squad, so that leaves us asking.... "Who can we get value for"? PT seems to be the best option. I hope all three stay but Bush is our "system guy" and Ivory is a great value. That leaves PT and the others like PJ and Lynell... It's anyone's guess at that point. In the draft, we'll need help at DT, LB, possibly RB and WR |
