Is this 2010 Team better than the 2009 team that won it all?

So I think we need to be a much better team than last year. Trouble is, I haven't seen it. We've lucked our way to 10-4. We could easily be 7-7 or 13-3. There lies the problem. We look like pretenders. I don't see us getting past the NFC Championship game if we make that. Still, I believe we can play with anybody, but we still have to beat the Falcons and Bucs. It is possible that we could lose both of those games. |

I have to say i think last years team was better and here is the reason why -
Consistency Every week we put up 40+ points, every week we got 2 or 3 turnovers and returned 1 of them for a TD. Consistency was the thing we were lacking at the start of the season, now we have definitley gotten better since beating the steelers. I agree with the points you made FF. However i like the new components we have (Ivory and J.Graham) they are the future and i mentioned yesterday that i think it looks as though Jimmy Graham is ready to take over the starting spot at TE. Ivory already is "The Guy" and we need him back very soon. Until Yesterday the defense looked more solid as a unit than last year, but the way ray rice ran all over them makes me think otherwise. Our level of play needs to go through the roof if we want to get somewhere in the playoffs and certain players need to turn it up (bush/shanle) |

Unless we win the SB, last year's team will always be better. And with a SB win this year, that will be a great accomplishment now that we have a bullseye on our chest.

Is last years team better ....or are this years opponents better? Last year the stand out was the Colts ALL season.. This year the picture is a little different. Not as clear. I doubt seriously that Vegas is putting odds heavily on any One Team to win it... much less be in it at this point.

I am also with Dizzle.. last year we just blew opponents away... this year we have had several games where we just squeaked out with a win/// some crazy... like the Bengals game...
we haven't had a signature win all year, and that's what champions do. We haven't come close to putting up a performance like we did against the patriots last year. |

Last year we "finished strong".
This year we haven't. Last year was a more "complete" team in terms of health and effort. This year we've had to face more adversity - Superbowl hangover, injuries, schedule, etc |

I think Drew need to bring back his pregame chant and finish strong. The team is not fired up when they get on the field. This still fires me up!
Drew-"Who are we?!" Saints-"Saints!!" Drew-"Who are we?!" Saints-"Saints!!" Drew-"Are we ready?!" Saints-"Aroo!!" Drew-"Are we ready?!" Saints-"Aroo!!" Drew-"Who are we?!" Saints-"Saints!!" Drew-"Who are we?!" Saints-"Saints!!" Drew-"Are we ready?!" Saints-"Aroo!!" Drew-"Are we ready?!" Saints-"Aroo!!" Drew-"This is New Orleans!!!" or "We are New Orleans!!" Depending on whether or not it's a home game. Drew and the Saints bringing it home-"Aroo!! Aroo!! Aroo!!" Second one goes, Drew-"One" Saints-"Two" Drew-"Win" Saints-"For you" Drew-"Three" Saints-"Four" Drew-"Win" Saints-"Some more" Drew-"Five" Saints-"Six" Drew-"Win" Saints-"For kicks" Drew-"Seven" Saints-"Eight" Drew-"Win" Saints-"Great" Drew-"Nine" Saints-"Ten" Drew-"Win" Saints-"Again" Drew-"Win" Saints-"Again" Drew-"Win" Saints-"Again" |

So far, last year definitely. This year the defense is much better as a whole, but the offense hasn't put together 4 consistent quarters yet. Hopefully we are just pacing ourselves for the playoffs and the consistency will explode there. This superbowl will be earned the hard way.

I don't think we are as good as last year.......because we are not the same team. Last year we were able to stay relatively healthy and execute Sean Paytons game plan more effectively. When any team is down to it's 5th or 6th running back it's going to be an obvious weakness in the game. We've been lucky with the practice squad developing players and getting them ready to be inserted in the line up.
