this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The Ravens killed us with the screen. Needed to take better angles to get to the ball carrier on a lot of plays - running and passing....

Poor tackling technique...plain and simple. Payton admitted in post game conference that he and GW have been coaching up trying to get turnovers, and that's exactly what they were doing on a runner that is tough to tackle even when you are trying to tackle him. Michael Turner is no different. I say make the tackle and let the turnovers come as they may. In my mind there were an extra 80 yards of rushing that were a direct result of going for the strip and not the stop. Throw that crap out of the window. Hit, wrap, and roll. Even a Sherman tank has to go down if you roll his ankles.

I chose poor tackling but the word i use is touch tackling, a lot of the tackling i've seen during the games have been players reaching out and feeling up who they suppose to be covering instead of bashing the hell out of them when that ball touches their fingers..
It seems they are all trying to be a hero and strip the ball but teams have watched the damn tapes! they watched how saints stripping technique worked last year, either switch it up or let it go! it just aint gonna happen this season. |

I'd even go as far as saying it is Greg William induced style of tackling. Rip the ball, tackle later. If they score, oh well, Drew will drive em!

Greg is afforded a very aggressive defensive style, due mainly to our high scoring offense. Which is why it typically falls victim to the "big play".
