So what happens when we play a winning team?
Another win against another team hell bent on there own destruction more than we are. There was plenty to feel good about but there was plenty to be concerned about as well. This is one of the most schizophrenic teams I have ever seen.
On the good side the play of the defense was outstanding, Darren howard was a terrific impact and he should only get better. Thomas and Bellamy both had great games as well. On offense Duece was dominate, Lewis made some clutch catches and Paython finally showed up. Brooks and the team as a whole never gave up and fought through adversity once again to pull it out in the end. On the bad side the erratic play continued. Brooks threw some horrible passes, our recivers dropped balls , the O line let the rush through all day, pre snap penalities killed drives and turnovers again hurt us. About as ugly as a team can play and still win. The saints have yet to beat a team with a winning record, and while we may get away with such inconsistancy against Tampa and Atlanta such will not be the case with the Eagles or the Packers. The plague of self inflicted wonds must be healed by next week for this patient to live. It is amazing and a testament to this team that they are able to fight through all the mistakes they make, but it is also a testament to how bad our competition has been. We were again helped by penalities turnovers and sloppy play from the opposition. This is a maddening team so good and so bad all at once. The promise of so much is there. I know some are comforted by the belief that all we have to do is clean up the mistakes and all will be well. I wonder how easy that will be to accomplish when the only thing the Saints have done consistantly is be inconsistant. |

To answer your question, looks like we\'ll find out this Sunday when the Eagles are around. We\'ll just have to wait and see which AB shows up. I might also add so as not to upset anyone, which Pathon,Stallworth, offensive line show up. Notice the offensive side of the ball is well represented here.

If Horn, Stallworth, Bentley and Carter don\'t play, along with Conwell being gone for the year....
Well, it would appear we better play lights out just to stay close. But has anyone noticed this team plays to the level of their competition, both good and bad? You can ignore the Titans/Colts game because 1/2 our starters didn\'t play. |

So what happens when we play a winning team?
if you look at our schedule the only winning teams we have left to play are philly and dallas
if we beat just one of those teams and continue to beat the \'bad\' teams then we finish 10-6 with a shot at a wild card spot |

I guess the Tennessee and Indy games are also exceptions going the other way, but I can\'t think of any other cases where we went out and crushed a bad team lately. [Edited on 17/11/2003 by rich006] |

I WAS more worried about Atlanta, but now with Horn, Stallworth, Conwell, Bentley, and Carter all possibly on the sideline, this game looks pretty damn tough. Whoever wins this one will probably win 13-9.

I\'m hoping we start off in the no huddle on offense. That seemed to spark our offense for the first ATL game, I\'d think it work again.
On other note, I rather lose Horn for a week or two to get him back to 100%, than have him limp around on Sundays. |

So what happens when we play a winning team?
Well the Saints had the definitive answer to the question.....WE LOSE.
The same mistakes from all sides continued, pre snap penalities, missed assignments(blocked kick), turnovers by WR and Brooks. This team has little focus and concentration. the coaching staff has put a poorly prepared and orginized team on the field and the better the competion the more it shows. They have enough talent to overcome themselves against other mistake prone teams, but not the good ones. One can lay a lot of blame at the players feet but when a team continually exibits the error prone ways the Saints have one must look to the coaching staff as well. |
