Well, first let me get this off my chest. the officials. Deuce scored on two straight plays and the head line judge even put his hands up on one yet they don\'t give it to us. Then on 4th and 8 from the Eagles 40, their DE jumps off-sides causing Riley to tackle him lest he have a free shot on Brooks and they call holding. Great call guys. It should at least be 20-14 right now. This is bull!!
Now that being said, the penalties and turnovers are unexcusable. I\'m sure Billy will argue, but that\'s two more turnovers for Brooks that are absolutely killing us. Brooks is playing pretty decent except for the fact that he can\'t PROTECT THE DAMN BALL!!! Now, the Saints are moving at will against this team. There\'s no reason to think that if they get their heads out of their a$$es that they can\'t score a lot in the second half. Of course, it won\'t matter b/c the Saints D can\'t stop any team but Tampa Bay. Yeah Billy, how\'s that great defense now? 250 yards and 20 points in the FIRST HALF!!! And it\'s not like the Eagles are getting the ball on our 20. These are LONG drives where they basically move down the field at will. 5 possessions, 4 scores. This isn\'t a game I thought we WOULD win, but I thought we COULD. I probably wouldn\'t be as down on this team right now if the wounds weren\'t entirely self-inflicted. Unreal. Yet another week where this team proves that it can F up more in one half than it did the previous week. Like Gator said. A team that hurts itself this badly doesn\'t deserve to go to the playoffs. If they come back and win, it won\'t matter to me. Well, certainly I\'ll be happy and more optimistic, but these kinds of stupid plays and inability to take care of the ball WILL catch up with us. If not this week (which it probably will), then next week, or the week after. [Edited on 24/11/2003 by ColdFusion] |

Well, I turned it off after the Eagles went up 33-14. The Saints gave up nearly 100 yards to TWO different backs. I\'d like to hear Billy tell me again how this defense is so improved.
I\'d also like to hear how a team that turns the ball over 3 times a game, and is flagged 15 times a game, and a defense that is able to stop pretty much no one with a winning record is going to make the playoffs. I didn\'t expect to win this one, but to get absolutely destroyed like this, mostly as a result of our own stupidity, well that makes me want to vomit. Signed - Sickened in Chicago. |

The really frustrating thing is that if Deuce scores instead of Brooks fumbling the ball away, the game is totally different. If the defense stops them, I dunno, once maybe, it\'s a different game... but as we all know, if ifs were fifths we\'d all be drunk.
It\'s hard to imagine this team going to the playoffs right now. It\'s also hard to imagine Haslett getting the boot, which is too bad, b/c it\'s hard to imagine the Saints being better than 9-7 and a game or two out of the playoffs again next season. |
