See if you can name this BnGer... hehehe
6/3/03 Does he have what it takes to be an elite NFL quarterback? I think the anwser is yes. I think he is cool in the pocket, has a great arm, and is very moblie. As a matter a fact I don't think there is a current NFl quarterback with as much potential as Aaron Brooks. 6/14 I absolutely beleive that. Brooks will be a Pro Bowl player this year. 7/17 Fact is that haveing a great safety with great speed makes the whole secondary much much better. Sammy Knight made some picks and laid some leather on the opposing teams receivers but he lacked the speed to get to a receiver once the ball was in the air. Tebucky Jones has all the qualites that Sammy Knight has with one very important difference. SPEED!!! I actually think our seconday has the potential to be one of the best in the league this year. (about Knight) Who considered him a ball hawk? Not me!! He made some picks but as many times as the ball was thrown against us, that's not unexpected. (NOTE: Nevermind that Knight has the SECOND most takeaways in the league over the last 6 years.) You put Jones back there and you see how many picks he gets. And yes I think our secondary will be very good this year along with the rest of the defensive side of the ball. 7/29/03 All of that brings me to my point, which is, they say there are no more dominate teams in the NFL, but the Saints have put together one of the best offenses and special teams in the league. If the rebuilt defense pans out like the other two units, IMO, the Saints have a chance to be an elite team for the next 3 or 4 years. This defese has so much potential that it's down right scary really. This isn't like 15 years ago, where camp was the only time to work on a new defense, Mini-camps and off season perparation allows a defense to be learned much quicker. Does no one remember my post where an incrediable amout of defense that finished near the bottom moved up to the top in one year. This is not magic. This is new talent that was brought in. Just like we did. Top 10. Write it down. Book it. 7/31/03 To me the only reason the Saints offense did not finish first in the league last year is because of the lack of tighend production and an effective screen pass. I think we will have that this year. I think we will finish first in the league in offense. 8/1/03 All of that brings me to my point, which is, they say there are no more dominate teams in the NFL, but the Saints have put together one of the best offenses and special teams in the league. If the rebuilt defense pans out like the other two units, IMO, the Saints have a chance to be an elite team for the next 3 or 4 years. 8/5/03 I think the Saints can beat any team on their schedule, but the problem is the last couple of years they have have shown they can be beaten by any team. Great offense, best special teams. I'll give the defense the benifit of doubt and go with--13-3 I don't think it takes as long for defenses to gel as it used to. Looking at the rise of defenses from year to year, I think it is a real possibility that the defense can do great things this year. IMO, the talent is there. 8/6/03 The truth is that we did not have enough talent to get to the super bowl last year. Talent is the biggest factor not coaching. Bill Parcells is the new coach in Dallas this year and I don't hear everyone saying the Cowboys are the favorite this year because of the new system Parcells brought in or because he is a master motivator. Parcells will never win anything until he gets talent on offense, defense, and special teams. The same fans who say that the Saints should have won more games last year are the same fans that are predicting us to go 9-7 again this year. How is that? 8/7/03 It's easy to look at all the talented players that the Saints have and say they should have been better the last 2 seasons, and that might be true, but taking everything into account, I don't think the collapse of the last 2 seasons are any indication of poor coaching or lack of leadership from the QB position. 8/13/03 I've tried to defend Venturi, but only because he has been defensive coordinater for 1 year and that's not enough time. If the defense doesn't finish 15th or better, then I say goodbye. An uniformed fan coud be a fan that continually bashes a coaching staff that took over argueably the worst team in the leage a few years back and turned it around. An uninformed fan could be a fan that can't see that the Saints are very close to putting together a super bowl team. An uninformed fan could be a fan that thinks the defense is going to be terrible because of the first preseason game. (About informed fans) He realizes that we might not have the best coaching staff in the league, but they have done a pretty damn good job. He realizes that if the defense has improved this year that we have a very good chance of going to the super bowl. Now call me crazy, and I'm sure that you will, but that's telling it like it is. They want to tell you that with all the talent we have it MUST be coaching that is the problem. They don't want to be reasonable and give the coaches some time. Nope!! They think with just the right coach and the right scheme that this team would have been much better. They have nothing to base this off of, that's just the way they feel. 8/17/03 Aaron looks and sounds like he has matured a lot. Just a few comments on the defense in general. I think when you look at this defense on terms of induvidual players that it has the potential to shock a lot of people. Grady Jackson looks likes he's playing with a chip on his shoulder. If he continues to do so, then he is dominate. Tebucky Jones is a good player regardless of what some opinions might be. Regardless of what some opinions of some members might be about Jim Haslett and company, they have had a history of finding great talent in the later rounds of the draft. Man, some of those are so funny it hurts. |

I going with Billy C......or poster formerly known as ..........
Has that kind of Fantasy edge to it ............... Bill Parcells is the new coach in Dallas this year and I don\'t hear everyone saying the Cowboys are the favorite this year because of the new system Parcells brought in or because he is a master motivator. Parcells will never win anything until he gets talent on offense, defense, and special teams. |

Seems to me he\'s doing pretty good with what he has there, of which most were there last year if i\'m not mistaken. Makes me wish he was in N.O..

The most impressive story I have heard come out of Dallas with Parcels , has been the moment Parcels sent the message to Quincy Carter to lead the team .
Carter calls timeout after a misalignment and heads over to talk to Parcels in a game and Parcels waves him back saying \" You fix it , it is your offense\" . Parcels has made players accountable and leaders take charge . |

Very Lombardi-ish. I like Haz, but if we had Parcells (who I think is the best living coach on the planet) our Saints would be about 9-3 right now, and thats with all the injuries we had. But I think he could do that with about 5 or 6 other teams currently around 500 also. He\'s worth about 3 or 4 more wins than your average NFL coach. |

Glad I can make someone laugh Gator. I was rolling myself. Just wanted to add a little perspective so that when we argue with the sunshine club we remember where all that optimism has taken them this season. True prognosticators, those two.
I think my favorite right now is:
The Parcels one is very good too. As is this:
