Rivers Gives Props to Brees.
Hi Everybody.
Today Philip had a conference call to talk to season ticket holders. A question he was asked is "are there any former Chargers quarterbacks that had an impact on your game?" His answer was "I've grown to appreciate Dan Fouts even more. He's a hall of famer and he broadcasts all of our games. Talking to him each week is aprivilege. He had the feel for this this town and obviously played at a high level. Even more recently was Drew Brees. He was a team mate of mine and one thing I've always took from Drew is that he's a true pro. He went about things the right way. The way he prepared, the way he worked out, the way he did things and that was always something I took pride in. But getting there and getting to see a different side while I was on the bench just further instilled it in me that that's the way you have to go at it to be a pro." Anyway... as a Die Hard Chargers fan, Drew will always be one of my all time favorites. I saw every one of his home games from 2002 to 2005. I've seen every one of Rivers home games since. I can't say who I like better until both have hung up their pads. Though I can say that I'm happy for Brees to not only have the success he's had but that it happened for a class act franchise with class act fans! If any of you would like to hear it, it's right here. You can forward it to 53:28 to get to just that question. Audio Gallery Take care and here's to meeting in the Super Bowl some day!!! |

Thanks for posting. That type of attitude will take Mr. Rivers a long way in this league with the talent he's been blessed with.

Hey Bolt I think I understand why you visit with us. I know if Drew left The Saints I would still support him on another team if the unthinkable happened.
He is one of a few players that leave a lasting impression on you. |

Drew is all around the best. Thats was very nice of Phillip to say those things. The Chargers made a big mistake letting Drew go. I thank them for that.

It happened to Brees and the same thing can be said about Rivers.
Until you win a championship, you will not be considered among the best. I'm not sure if the comparison is fair, but that how the experts look at it. All you have to do is look at the QBs that won the past 2 Superbowls. FF |

Rivers comparing himself to Brees is like Jim Piersall comparing himself to Mickey Mantle.

I come to this forum occasionally because I do like the Saints. I always have and I attended a Saints/Falcons game at the Super Dome in 93. It wasn't till then that I realized what a huge rivalry that is.
And yes, Brees going to the Saints and being a big part of their recent success adds to my interest in them. Saint_LB, Rivers did not compare himself to Brees or did anybody else for that sake. He said that as a team mate he admired Drew's work ethic, leadership, preparation, etc. and that it made him realize what it takes to be a pro. strato... at this point, I have to agree. In fact Rivers himself agrees. He's mentioned before that he's got to get a ring to be among the best. You can have great stats and go to the HOF but nobody (especially of great caliber) wants to end up like Marino, Fouts, Moon, etc. GeauxForMore... we all hated getting swept by the Retards last season. Especially when we had a 13 game win streak over them. Stupid Norv!!! Danno, you're welcome and glad you enjoyed it. Anyway, two completely different quarterbacks but also two of the best in the business today. I'm happy for Drew and I hope that Rivers gets a ring before he hangs his pads up. |
Bye Bye Norv! See Ya AJ!

In fact, a Chargers fan was stabbed by a Raiders fan at the game in 99. PATHETIC! Though since those times, we've had more football fans in Black and Silver attend as opposed to those idiots. |

Yeah QBREES9 it was nice of The Chargers to send Drew out the door. But let's not forget some of his other Charger friends like Michael Turner, LaDanian Tomlinson not to mention Marty Bowl. In my opinion AJ Smith could be more of a problem for San Diego than Norval Eugene Turner.
