As a big PT fan I am glad they agreed to a deal that both sides thought was fair. It doesnt matter if some fans think he is to slow, to small, injury prone or not a starting RB. He has done everything he needed to do to prove he is worth a 4yr deal at a salary he was content with.

Glad that might be the end of some threads that he will not be in a Saints uniform anymore, he faked his injury last year, he is just a product of our offensive system. PT worked his way onto this team and worked his way up to our leading rusher for 2 straight years. Pay the man. This should show Bush what his salary should be slightly less than PTs.

Coach Sean Payton revealed that Pierre Thomas' ankle surgery could keep him out of all offseason activities.
Thomas underwent "extensive arthroscopic" surgery, described as a three-step process. Details are unknown, though Payton believes Thomas' rehab will stretch into the summer, causing him to miss OTAs if there is no lockout. There's no indication that Thomas is in danger of missing training camp, and the new contract suggests the Saints aren't overly concerned.

This craps on the ridiculous rumors of how PT was faking it last year. The man was really hurt. This should also put to rest of how he's in Payton's doghouse because of it... if he was, we wouldn't have gave him a 4 year contract.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

Yep. I never believed that dog house crap from day one. One article "suggested" it and everyone kept repeating it for 6 months as if it were fact.

And I hear there's tension between Bush and Payton due to Bush's injuries and his east-west dance routines, Which explains why he's getting less and less touches even when healthy.

I'm surprised. Contract looks fair too. I hope he can recover from that injury.

Saints re-signed RB Pierre Thomas to a four-year, $12 million contract.

In light of Thomas' injury-marred 2010 season that landed him in coach Sean Payton's doghouse, the deal comes as quite a surprise. Thomas was reported to be holding out for Steven Jackson money last offseason. The terms aren't in yet, but you can bet he settled for considerably less this time around. With Chris Ivory coming off a Lisfranc injury on top of shoulder, knee, and hamstring woes, Thomas should assume the nominal starting job. Payton mixes and matches his backs so often that neither will have more than inconsistent RB2 value in 2011.

4 years for 12 million tells me the front office knows what the hell they're doing. I love it.

Now get Bush signed with a reasonable contract commensurate with his production, then we got options at Running Back; though, I don't believe in today's NFL you spend a No. 1 on a RB...

The highest I'd geaux is a back-end round two pick...

whether yer pro-thomas or anti-thomas, youve gotta admit the team is better when he plays, and 4 years/12 million is a bargain......
