The New Orleans Saints have moved two assistant coaches to new positions and hired a new assistant.

The team has promoted Tony Oden to secondary coach from assistant secondary coach, while moving Mike Mallory from assistant special teams coach to assistant secondary coach.

The Saints also announced on Monday that John Bonamego has been hired as an assistant special teams coach.

Bonamego is in his second stint with the Saints. He was the Saints' special teams coordinator in 2006 and 2007 before spending two-plus season in the same job in Miami.

Oden has spent five seasons with the Saints and replaces Dennis Allen, who recently became defensive coordinator in Denver. Mallory is entering his fourth year on the Saints' staff.

Not sure why it matters since he's coaching DB's now.

I was talking about Bonamego, not Mallory. Unless I misread, He is the one who did a stint in Miami.

Oh, you are correct, my bad.

I still don't think it matters since he's now simply an assitant. Miami's special teams were bad, but often coaching isn't the main culprit.

For instance, our punt return team sucks, but we're saddled with Reggie Brooks returning punts. Thats not the coaches fault.

Miami's special teams were terrible last year, they gave up 2 blocked field goals and a return in the MNF game vs Patriots don't think they improved much after that
