Mindset of the players
If they thought they were going to get any sympathy from me after AP makes comments like this, they are crazy. I would just blow it off as an individual just talking junk but I think the majority of the players feel this way.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson compares NFL owners' treatment of players to 'modern-day slavery' in an online interview - TwinCities.com "The players are getting robbed. They are," Peterson told Yahoo. "The owners are making so much money off of us to begin with. I don't know that I want to quote myself on that." When discussing other players feeling the same way, Peterson said: "It's modern-day slavery, you know? People kind of laugh at that, but there are people working at regular jobs who get treated the same way, too. With all the money. ... The owners are trying to get a different percentage, and bring in more money. I understand that; these are business-minded people. Of course this is what they are going to want to do. I understand that; it's how they got to where they are now. But as players, we have to stand our ground and say, 'Hey, without us, there's no football.' " Peterson is set to make $10.72 million in base salary in 2011. Yeah AP!! Cause those slaves were making bank back then too! I am totally against the players on this and AP is an Idiot!!! I'd give up watching football instead of watching these crybabies whine about playing a figgin sport that people are linning up to get into. I'm fuming right now! |

Yes, comments like this certainly do not help the players. It shows how out of touch they (some) are with the average fan.

Drew & Peyton need to huddle the players up and say, "Listen guys... how bout some of us dont talk to the press, just smile, say something generic and Adrian--- dont try to think any more. Just practice holding on to the ball.
I'm glad nobody I like said anything that stupid. |

I'm sure there were players in the 80's who made senseless comments but information didn't move like it does today. I understand what AP was trying to explain but his analogy is absolutely wrong and it's not laughable as he stated. What they need are speech writers. If they want to make a statement stick with script. |
