Ok, if the draft looks like this
Do we pass up Ingram? I understand a scout is doing this, but I would be closer to believing a scout over some of the analyist lately.
Pick No.24 RAHIM MOORE S UCLA The Saints address a big need with the best safety in the draft. Pick No.25 ADRIAN CLAYBORN DE IOWA Clayborn falls a bit and the Seahawks address a need on their defensive line. Pick No.26 BRANDON HARRIS CB MIAMI Harris is a player on the rise and could go higher than this. The Ravens would be thrilled to pick him up at No. 26. Pick No.27 MIKE POUNCEY C/G FLORIDA The Falcons will likely draft the best player on their board at No. 27 due to multiple needs, but Pouncey would upgrade the interior of their offensive line. Pick No.28 MARK INGRAM RB ALABAMA His marginal timed speed causes him to drop, and the Patriots will benefit from it by getting the best running back in the draft. rest of the mock NFL.com news: Elite defensive players go early in scout's mock draft |

We have fragility in the backfield. It needs to be dealt with but we all know it won't be in the first round.

Our biggest weakness is clearly OLB. If we don't address that in either the first or second round, I deem the entire draft a failure outright. We can get any number of novelty players in whatever round we want, but we absolutely need a stud OLB. Our entire defense looks worse because of the fact that only Vilma was playing at an NFL level. Too bad there aren't minor leagues in the NFL, because our LB corp couldv'e use a few games at AAA.
EDIT: I'm also not particularly willing to settle for any of the 25 LBs that we've had clogging up our IR for the last 3 years or so, they're just getting payed annually to rehab professionally. |
