The Saints are not shopping Pierre Thomas, two New Orleans coaches tell Len Pasquarelli.

The Saints have first-rounder Mark Ingram in addition to Chris Ivory and possibly Reggie Bush. Still, they are well aware of how quickly running backs can land in the trainer's room. "He's here," said one coach of Thomas. "We've seen firsthand that you can't have enough (backs)."

You can have enough RB's. You just need the right ones for specific jobs.

Thirty-seven running backs would probably be too many... just a guess though.

He doesn't have the same value to another team. I hope he stays and we have the same problem next year with having a ton of backs.

RB by committee seems to be the way many teams are heading right now. Even teams with dominant backs (the Chiefs with Jammal Charles--he is on the smallish side--have Thomas Jones to also tote the rock). Because RBs are either carrying the rock themselves or blocking LBs or defensive linemen on most plays, they have on average one of the shortest football life expectancies of any position.

Just like DBs, you can't have enough RBs.
