Comparing Sproles vs Bush
This will make a better discussion after the Superbowl, but since I've had it with the whole NFL Network Faulk-Sanders love fest instead of the HOF game that should be on, I thought I'd bring it up now. What factors make a better running back? Yardage, perceived quickness, games played per season? What else? Everything I've read lately seems to take it as a given that Sproles is almost as good as Reggie and we didn't lose too much to Miami. I'm not convinced we didn't didn't get the better end of it.

Durability is at the top of the list. You can't make the team from the bike.

consistency durability production Not better than Reggie... 40 yard dash |
We'll miss Reggie's leadership.

We've got enough leaders on this team that I don't think we'll miss Reggie's leadership on or off the field. |

Watched him at practice yesterday.
Impressions: vision body control burst decisive Sproles>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bush Listened to the 5 min of football content a midst the 55 min of commercials per hour on WWL-radio. Bobby Hebert says to stop all the Sproles-Bush comparisons. That we are better than that. SCREW YOU "Cannon"! He and Deke think they know everything, and own Saints football. That program is un-listenable anymore. I miss Buddy-D soooooooo much. |
I'll never understand why people dislike Reggie. If nothing else, I'll remember how he stepped up in that playoff game against arizona. We went to the NFC championship twice won a Super Bowl with him, let's see how many we play in and win without him.

He's a solid addition. |

He is just too damn inconsistent and fragile. It was maddening! I will take consistently very good and healthy over occasionally great and sporadically healthy any day. |

He was a really good Slot-Back with a special skill set that demanded at the NFL level he be out in space with the ball... His rookie season showed that; but trying to force the issue at running back was not so good... The announcement that the Saints were going to have a chance to draft Reggie changed a city in a deep depression post-flood... We "Thank Him for His Contribution" and we move on... Now we find out what Sproles has left in the tank, pray he protects the ball, and move on to putting the team together for a Lombardi Run... Bashing Reggie is gonna make for Bad Karma... |

Yes; if nothing else, we're going to see who is at fault with all the injuries. At one time last year, ALL FOUR of our starting backs were injured and on the sidelines. Chris Ivory finished a game on the field and was then listed as injured and unable to play the following day. What did he do? Fall in the shower or what? If Reggie gets all the carries that the fish seem to think and plays the whole year uninjured, it will be an indictment against our training staff.

Already, since the Ivory hernia sx, several reporters have said in their video logs that they may have to ask Coach Payton about the recurrence of certain injuries; one such example is the sports hernia; I believe so far Vilma, Smith, Stinchcomb, Greer, Henderson, Ivory; as well as former players Shockey, Young and Brown... |
I'm a fan of Reggie. He was fun to watch play and contributed quite a bit to our Superbowl run. I hope he does well with the Fins. He was great in certain roles, but not in others. He was great coming out of the backfield catching screen or dump offs. I didn't find his special teams performances that great overall. He was wonderful with the trick and off direction plays whether or not he was the one with the ball. He was not an in between the tackles runner and his injury problems really went up when he started trying to prove that he was. Ten yards and then out of bounds was his best contribution. He gained yards and stayed healthy. Sproles can do the things Reggie did, plus can do the between the tackles kind of run. Some of his best years were when he had LT with him. Now he's back with some kick assed feature backs. He could have the kind of year that puts any of Bush's to shame.

It isn't hating on Reggie because we think Sproles will be a better and more effective player for us.
|
Sproles-A New Orleans Saint
Bush -A Miami Dolphin Why is are we discussing this? |
You might also want to check the win percentage of Bush when playing in games vs when he didn't.
You'll find that we won more games without him. |
Well, I feel that Reggie's qualities as a player range from "infuriating" to "jaw-dropping" and you never know what you are going to get on a given day, or even on any play during that day. I'll admit that the riverboat gambler in me always liked to see Reggie get the ball.
Despite his shortcomings in durability and consistency though, I love Reggie because he was a community guy, he was always out in NO being visible and helping out in the community and he was always gracious to us as fans. He is the type of guy off the field that I like to think that the Saints stand for as an organization. So, for me, where ever Reggie ends up, I hope he does well...just not against the saints :D |
A lot of good things coming out of camp about Sproles !!! A very exciting time here in New Orleans ( CT ) that is LOL

And we heard from the Reggitarians and how anyone who criticizes any aspect of the great one's game is a Reggie hater or a "downer". If he was as freaking awesome as the Bushies proclaimed, little Darren Sproles couldn't even hold his jock on gameday. I'd imagine thats why it may be a topic of discussion, or perhaps since he's gone the blind obsession with Reggie is becoming obvious to those guilty of it. |

LOL..your obsessed with this... Like i said he's gone now..no use crying over spilled milk... Let it go ..seek a higher ground... Focus on the future and quit living in the past....you'll feel better i promise:doh: |

Bush is like the ex-girlfriend you had that you were with for 6 years and was the best thing that ever happened to you. 2 days after you break up, your telling all your friends how much you ALWAYS hated her and couldn't remember why you were with her. There are plenty of other "fish" in the sea and right now Sproles seems like one hell of a rebound.

I kinda like to think of it as a mutual breakup..where your still friends..remember the F.O wanted him back at the right price...so the love was still there...but the breakup was for the best..:D |

the Saints paid him....what would you do?..kinda like some dude tipping us 500 bucks to play a tune...were taking it..lol

Reggitarians -That's pretty funny!

And if you're waiting for me to focus on the future, you're backing up. I live and breathe the future. Its why I wanted to replace Reggie last year. |

Kinda like Downo...lol |

You been cryin since i got here... |
Regardless of what I think about Bush! He's gone now, so why do we need to compare Sproles, PT, Anybody to him? It doesn't matter anymore, he will never be a Saint again so why worry about it.
Sproles is here now and as long as he can stay on the field, he's better in my book. Plus he has a knack for returning kicks, so no more holding my breath with Bush standing back there... |

Reggie was... Reggie.
He was overhyped & could NEVER live up to that. Yes he helped the team - when he was healthy. How many games did he miss since 06? A season's worth?? |
