New Orleans Saints will move some practices to Oxnard, Calif., this month
The New Orleans Saints are planning to move a portion of their training camp practices to Oxnard, Calif., between their second and third preseason games, according to league sources.
The team has not confirmed any plans, but various sources have confirmed that they have been making plans to take the team to Southern California to break up their camp routine. Details have not been finalized, but hey will likely travel following their preseason game at Houston on Aug. 20, then spend several days practicing in Oxnard before their Aug. 28 game at Oakland. The Dallas Cowboys have been training in Oxnard off and on for years, including when Saints Coach Sean Payton was there as an assistant coach in 2004 and 2005. The River Ridge practice fields in Oxnard, which is about one hour north of Los Angeles, are adjacent to a Residence Inn. The Saints took their training camp on location to Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., during Payton's first three years as head coach from 2006-2008. But they moved back home to the team's Metairie practice facility in 2009. New Orleans Saints will move some practices to Oxnard, Calif., this month | NOLA.com |
I guess we can look forward to some scrimmages against the Raiders prior to the actual game.
Interesting..... |
Oh great I leave the area and come to Cleveland and they go to CA... just great, lol.

Not a bad idea.

@jeffduncantp: Current weather in Oxnard, per @WeatherChannel: 62 degrees, "feels like" 62. Current weather in Nola: 91 "feels like" 104.
Players are going to enjoy a break from the HEAT!!! |
I love this idea. since I live in Bakersfield Ca.. I hope to see a few practices..
GEAUX SAINTS!!!! |
They should come to Napa...I could make a practice or two up there. SOC is a bit far for me from East Bay. Damn it!

Can't have Jim Henderson getting himself all heat stroked up on the sidelines like that. I'm all in favor of the move to cooler climes. This will get the players acclimated to the chilling, freezing 88 degree temperatures they will face in the Frozen Tundra of Green Bay in early September.

I don't thing this is a good idea. Yeah they get a break from the weather but guys get just as tired of moving around so much and there not in the confired of there own homes.

This is a good idea on many fronts, weather, travel, practice, etc.
