Why didn't we blow them out?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; They won like they were sopposed to. To see my contributing factor,See REFS SUCK. I\'m suprised they didn\'t call ruffing the passer on the Pete Fumble, It was no worse than the call Hand got pentalized for....

Why didn't we blow them out?

We did not blow them out (in my personal opinion) because we never controlled their pass rush. Brooks was hassled all afternoon -- only a couple of sacks, but way too many hurries and hits.

I am not saying that Brooks needs unlimited protection in the pocket, just enough time to make things happen. With a little more time to set up before the pass, there are not many teams out there that would have any chance of beating us.

I know that the offensive line was cobbled together this year and that they are for the most past, young players, but let\'s just hope that they start looking more like they did at the start of the season.

Again, this is just my opinion.

Why didn't we blow them out?

I agree that we have gotten some pretty pizz poor calls, but so have most of our opponents. It may appear to us that we get shafted more than our fair share of the time (I have been known to hurl explatives at the refs on the screen a number of times), but if we just play up to our skill level, no amount of bad calls can stop us. That includes plugging the holes in the o-line.

But hey, that\'s just my opinion and I believe everyone is entitled to voice their\'s.

Defensive play calling .

The lack of any blitzes other than the run blitzes , Knight or Bellamy were not used to crash the gates and get a helmet on Peete . Peete had a brace on his knee for pete\'s sake , they should have sent the whole package at him .Dale was supposed to add something to the defensive scheme and allow more blitzes , the play calling was too conservative on the defensive side and Peete had too much time .

If Venturi is content to call a base defense against Atlanta again, the Saints will lose again .

Why didn't we blow them out?

the reason we didnt blow them out was b/c the first 2 times we scored, we got FG\'s instead of TD\'s. we punch those 2 in, and its over, but instead of being up 14-0 we were only up 6-0. and then the late TD before the end of the half, that was just bad D calling, we should have kept blitzing like we were doing at the beginning of the game, but we went into prevent D, and u know what they say about prevent D, that the only thing it prevents is your team from winning

No Blowout because the offense was out of sync early in the red zone. Giving the Panthers hope early on. Venturi didn\'t seemed to buy into the blitz with a better secondary attitude. I also think they are saving some looks for Atlanta. Don\'t want to tip the hand. With Dale and Fred on the corners it is a whole new ball game and midway through the season, No one has seen this defense together. I think they will look different next week.

Always the optimist, Huh?!?

Not that it matters...The Refs are getting worse.

Why didn't we blow them out?

Two bad calls come to mind...Norman\'s Roughing the QB call (can\'t we tackle the Quarter back anymore?) and the Neutral Zone call that gave Carolina a first down late in the game (the center DID move the ball...if they\'re lookin close enough to see the Neutral Zone infraction, how did they not see the center move the ball?), but those didn\'t cost us the game thankfully. We looked a little sluggish after the bye week and I still think the main thing this team needs to do is learn how to put teams away. I think a lot of the Saints issues are directly related to the fact that we\'re a young team...
