Hey how much will we see of Chase in the next few games.
|
Is he the future? NO. But, with what we have done to beef up our defense, running game, and special teams, if God forbid something did happen to Brees we would still be contenders with Chase at the healm. With the team we have built, as it looks thus far in preseason, we can still win if we had to with a smart, game managing QB who limits mistakes. We have a complete team for once. Chase will do in a pinch, but he is nothing to build the franchise around, thats for sure. A good backup is what he is.

Aaron Brooks is looking for work.....

At this point in this Payton-Brees era of Saintdom, one of the team's major strengths just from game to game during the regular season is the respect and fear that Drew gets from NFL defenses. Every receiver must be accounted for by defensive backs, Drew will exercise his options with his backfield and he can run for whatever he must get.
Would I see the same with Chase? If defenses don't see a #9 jersey behind center (http://209.85.12.234/7361/20/emo/eusa_pray.gif don't let that happen) they will tee off. I feel good about Chase as a backup, but 'serviceable' won't cut it in an extremely competitive NFC Conference (sans West). |

He had a decent game aginst the Texans, not great but certainly not awful either. The pass for Morgan was a beauty.
