In the week 2 exhibition match-up between two presently undefeated teams with traditionally potent offenses, the New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans, just as much attention should be paid to the defensive play on both sides of the field as to the high-flying offenses.
While Drew Brees and the starting lineup of the Saints‘ offense looked sluggish, at best, in their preseason debut against the San Francisco 49ers at the Louisiana Superdome last Friday night, the exact opposite could be said of the first, second and third defensive units collectively. No matter how late in the game it became, the intensity, the energy level and the amount of pressure that was displayed by the New Orleans Saints‘ defense on the opposing offense never seemed to relinquish. In all, the Saints‘ defense recorded 6 quarterback sacks and 2 interceptions before all was said and done on Friday night’s 24-3 victory over the 49ers. San Francisco was only able to generate 234 total yards of offense against the stout Saints defense. Quite a few sit-outs already and it's only game 2, even though most are just precautionary.
Hopefully Colston & Brees + the rest of the #1 offense can get going this game and actually score points. And the defense can stay "dominant" against a better offense... |

I hope we protect Drew...Watt is a handful and Mario is struggling in the OLB role...there is talk here already about trading him...

To hell with playing the starters TOO much. Injuries are hitting most teams becasue a lot of players are not in "game" shape. You can workout & saty fit but the mini campas & such prepare a body for camp & camp for the season so... no mini camp means......
