OK, I'm officially fixated on DJ Williams as our 1st pick.
The more I read about this guy the better he sounds. Do you guys think he'll slide to the 18th pick? I know he's an OLB but I think he, along with Grant, Hodge and a solid free-agent ILB pick (Al Wilson) could take our unit from bad to very good in one season. If we pick a corner 1st I could be satisfied with a Karlos Dansby or Jonathan Vilma with one of our 2nd picks. Everyone say Vilma's kinda small, but I found it very interesting that Ray Lewis came into the NFL the exact same size as Vilma is now. Hmmm. But here's the game to be played out in April... Should we take a LB 1st and take a 2nd tier CB with our 2nd round pick? Or should we get that stud CB in the 1st and take a LB with our 2nd pick. It all depends on how deep each position is and how the 1st 17 picks go. But I'm of the opinion we take a DJ Williams in the 1st round and draft 2 CB's with our 2nd round picks. Odds are at least one will step up and start. I'll be furious if two of our 1st three picks aren't a LB and a CB. Would they dare do it to us again? |

Stud linebackers are harder to get than stud cornerbacks. Reason why is the recent shortage of quality we\'ve seen in the past few years. Linebackers on the lower levels are either being converted to safties or lineman, depending on their strengths. Sad thing is, just from my knowledge, we\'ll be lucky if there are any first round talent LB\'s when our pick comes up. But I do think that it should be addressed before the CB position does.

My guess is that we\'ll trade all three picks (1st and both 2nds) for a Center...
I think the biggest weakness of the team is lack of leadership at the GM position. Haz (who we all know now is a cancer on this team) has too much control over personel moves during the offseason. If we do not pick at least one LB or CB in the first or second round, I think I\'ll stick my head in the sand for the rest of next year. Of course, if those needs could be addressed in FA (cough... Al Wilson... cough), then they can pick whoever the F they want in the draft. With so many great CBs available, we should get one of them too - the draft is so often a risky way to fill needs. By the way, Danno I like the \"Hip\" quote. |

Its actually very possible that DJ WIlliams will be available at the 18th pick. If he isn\'t we more than likely get a CB in the first round. 2nd round look at CB there will be 2-3 studs to grab when we pick... WIlliams is about the only player I think you will see will fall bigtime because of move on other positions perhaps DT.
round 1 DJ WILLIAMS OLB 2 Will Poole CB 2 (from St Louis) Chad Lavalais DT, LSU 3 Max Starks OT 4 No pick traded for T Jones 5 Brandon Miree RB 6 Jeremy LeSueur CB 7 Marko Glavic QB We got rid of 7th pick for OLB Derrick Rogers but we will recieve a conditional 6-7 round pick from the Redskins for Chase. So the 7 pick is from the Redskins. [Edited on 5/1/2004 by deadflatbird] [Edited on 5/1/2004 by deadflatbird] |

I then forsee a CB coming to us at our number one pick there are 2-3 that we won\'t be able to pass up and are the best available player at that pick and that is of now... there hasn\'t been the combine yet so things will change.

yes but there are 3 CB\'s that I would say are better than any of the other LB\'s. If DJ Williams is there at 18, you take him... best athlete and team leader... agressive. When you have plenty of needs/upgrades to consider you have to go with the right person... the best athlete... the one who will contribute the most to the overall team. Keep in mind Combines aren\'t even here yet so things will change. But DJ WIlliams is falling now and and the 3 corners and OT are moving up in needs for teams FAST right now.

I treat combine reports about the same as I do toilet paper. Everyone has a different perspective on where players go in the draft. I\'d call any of you a liar to your face if you were to say prior to last year\'s draft that Nick Barnett would be picked up in the 1st round. But look at the impact he had in Green Bay.
