Randy Moss?
Well...
Would you? |
Hell no. Our offense isn't designed to have a true number one. he is a diva and will be pissed that we spread the ball out to much.
Didn't seem that way in NE...
Yea because he scored 20 td's and was happy. he wouldn't get enough looks here to put up NE type numbers. After the first game when he has only a few receptions he will start half ass running his routes. I don't want a guy that only puts forth max effort when things are going well anyway.
No ..... It's only 4 weeks not the season, even if Colston was put on IR I'd still say no
We may not have a choice.
Who would Saints release/IR/PS to make room? It is definitely something worth considering, given what we saw last night |
Here is a list of available FA wide receivers
NFL Free Agent Wide Receivers - NFL Free Agent Wide Receivers for 2011 |
I'd rather Montez Billing or Andy Tanner off the PS over Moss or TO, and NO, I'm not kidding.
I wouldn't sign him. But, with Colston being out and Moore being nicked up, I wouldn't fault the Saints for kicking the tires on him and TO. I wouldn't like it, but I would understand. Atlanta and Tampa are going to be tough divisional games. You only have 16 games to get it done. The Saints are 0-1 with alot of question marks on defense. They are going to have to depend on outscoring opponents to win games because the defense will not win any games for the Saints. Meachem and Henderson have shown flashes but overall their careers have been very inconsistent at best. Of course, the coach could commit to the running game more in his play calling, but he's yet to show that during his tenure. That being said, when they stomp the Bears next week 33-13 and Ingram rushes for 145 and two TD's, we'll all feel alot better. WHO DAT!
Get him....who cares about his character. Once he is reeling in TD passes I'm sure we would all forget about how much of an ass he is...
Would I? Yes I would.
He takes too many plays off...and that would cause Drew's interceptions to geaux up if he did that...
It's just another opportunity for Adrian Arrington to step up... |

I don't see SP going for Moss or TO those high profile players are not his style. The farthest he went on the limb was with Shockey and that was because he had history with him. But yeah Colston and Moore right off the bat we have a bit of a problem. Funny how we solidified the RB's and now we have our top two receivers banged up.
And groin pulls seem to take the longest to heal.
LOL...im gonna have to say HELL YES!..i dont think coach or Mickey really care what we have to say..if they can help the team ...then by all means you have to take a look...this character crap is overblown. We need ball players not choir boys..Tom Brady said the other day he would welcome him back with open arms...and remember we have one playing with us right now who had character issues...Shaun Rogers. I aint heard a no problems with him in the locker room...
I did rather enjoy the Biqueens meltdown last year. Now for Moss to go back to MN as a Saint and put up 3 TDs himself, well that would be epic. Problematic nonfit indeed.
What if we were to go after TJ Houshmandadeh....

Ya know 9th Ward TJ Houshmandadeh would be a good option but there are some rumors that The Vikes may sign him. He kinda got lost in Baltimore with the crowd of Receivers they have. He is 33 but could help us short term, I can see Brees working well with him.
RANDY MOSS SUCKS!!!
I take a chance on him and if he isn't performing or starts complaining I cut him. Then what have we really lost? It looks like Arrington is going to have to step up now. Good thing we held on to him.
No Moss no TO. Only move I could condone is trading with KC to get Terrance Copper back, he knows the system.
Okay gang. Moss and Aarington in the same sentence?? Shouldn't happen.
Belichick - someone who Payton admires - was able to "use" Moss successfully. Why couldn't Brees and Payton? Think of all the open field we would have with Moss running fly routes... |
Quote:
I agree..he would take the other teams best CB with him.. |
You put up a strong case with Moss, but I don't see the current administration going for it. The one thing I was seeing though was Brees targeting Moss with his accuracy.
Championship!
my only concerns with Moss are that you can't run to his side and you can't depend on him to run a slant with any enthusiasm.
Other than that, championship-ish. |
No - Nooo!!
NO!!! Bad dog no bone!! A cancer in the locker room BUT would be better than OT |
Quote:
2nd all time in 100 yd Games 2nd all time in Receiving TDs 5th all time in Receiving yds He's never been a fan fav, I'll give you that, but "sucks" shouldn't even be coming out of anyone's mouth, because we have no one that comes close to his numbers. With respect to 'character' and 'locker room cancer' we saw no indication that either were issues in NE. Face it, he's a stud. And considering the state of our receiving corps, he could be a huge asset! I say make him an offer and get him in black & gold! |
When I first saw the thread title my mind said that might not be a bad idea until Colston and Moore are healthy again but then I started thinking logically again and remembered that you can't scrape cancer off with a butterknife.
Quote:
No but you can use that knife to cut him...easy peasy |
Tick, tick, tick...
If we can get Housh first, that'd be preferable. But, if Moss is sniffing around the Bayou, it is not because he is looking for tix to Tulane games.
If Marquee is out for a spell, use Moss like the whole NFL seems to be anyway. |

I have nothing against Moss as a player or outside of the game for that matter. I think he has tremendous talent, but the biggest gripe about him - his whole career long - has been that someone with that much talent should be better. His lack of effort was one of the biggest reasons (off course not the only one) he left Minnesota and went to Oakland. It's hard for me to believe that he would suddenly turn things around in New Orleans, but I guess anything is possible.
In an older thread - before FA began - the question was: which FA WR should the Saints go for. And I thought T.J. Houshmandzadeh was the most viable player in my mind - naturally outside of Moore - I thought he would be available, would probably come fairly cheap, and has the talent to still contribute. So, I would still prefer him over Moss, largely because of the points I listed above. But, something about seeing Moss in black & gold does intrigue me for sure. |
Saints NOT interested in Moss (??)
The guy is AWESOME, but ... Let's face it --- too much baggage for the character of our team. His production would not overshadow his shennanigans ... There's a reason why he is still retired.
I look at the character and locker room cancer thing like this...it seems to me like Payton over the years is usually quite willing to put up with 2-3 "head case" players on the roster at any given time. Most of his teams over the years are made up of these really solid "character" football guys, but he'll always have room for two or three productive, talented oddball screwballs on his team, the guys who come with baggage. But he doesn't ever let them control things or get too big headed, and it's never more than just two or three of them on the team at a time, they never get enough critical mass to implode the locker room. You had Joe Horn; you had Shockey; Bush could totally be a bit of a head case or a diva sometimes, you had Hargrove (total head case), you have Hartley who has been a ton of baggage and problems on and off the field, you have Rogers who is kind of a loose cannon etc.
And it almost seems to me like Payton always has room on the roster for 2 or 3 of these "head case" or flaky type guys each year, but that he doesn't ever let their number get higher than just two or three of them at a time -- and I swear it almost seems like it works out sometimes, that when one of them leaves, that's when he brings in another head case, at a totally different position! So I don't know if we have one of those "head case" spots open on the roster right now, but who knows, maybe with Bush gone and Hartley out, we do have room on the team for another head case, in a different spot on the field, and Moss would fit right in LOL |
I think its now or never for Moss and he knows it too.
