Raider's Janakowski ties Tom Dempsey's 63 yd FG tonight on MNF

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; By the way, Skymike made sure he mentioned Saints and Dempsey kicking below sea level this morning on Houston radio when he read the scores after his traffic report. Way to go Mikey!...

The modified shoe had no point, that's where all the force in concentrated. I don't think this was brought up in the video. I'm no physics major, just took some classes in college but it's common sense. F=M(A), if the force is distributed across a cut off shoe then some of that force won't be fully transferred, some of it will diminishes or lost on the edges. This is the main reason I think Demp holds the title.

Tom Dempsey's Kick tied

Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski ties New Orleans Saints' Tom Dempsey's FG record | NOLA.com

Congratulations Sebastian Janikowski.

I am sure that one day the record will be broken - but nothing will ever replace my memory of this:

Thin air vs. thick air.........no question Dempsey really earned his kick.

It'll have an asterisk next to it cause he did it in thinner air, like the Denver kicker did. Plus, Dempseys' kick was 63 and a half feet, LOL
