Football Gameplan's Saints vs Texans Preview Video's

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Good stuff. Very informative. One thing I would correct is that, I have seen that Drew is getting a lot better at reading 3-4 defenses. He is able to slide protection to the pass rushers....

Saints Game Plan!!!!!!

After watching the Video, there was some great stuff in it to chew on for the week... This guy knows what he is talking about...

1) Harper has to have a good game defending the pass.. He is going to see Owen Daniels number a lot this game..

2) Andre Johnson, We are going to have to cover this guy... He can put up some big numbers.. There is going to have to be some double coverage on him... That will again put more pressure on Harper to have a good game in coverage..

3) I don't know what Houston's running game is like. I believe Foster is still nursing an injury, but non the less they torched us pretty bad in the pre season.. We need to be prepared and stop the run...

4) Defensive pressure.. We need to continue what we started last week.. Having Will Smith back will be a big help.. But Shaub needs to see pressure, We need to have a good Blitz package for this game..

5) Ball Control.. We need to take advantage of our running game capability.. We have 3 good RB's that need to control the game, wear the Texan defense down, and keep Texan's offense off the field.. We don't need a Track meet here..

6) Get Lance Moore involved in the middle..and also Get our Tight ends involved...

If we do some of these things I feel we will beat the Texans.. That preseason game didn't count so be prepared to see a different outcome..

So after reading your post crawgator, Harper needs to have a huge game covering Johnson, Daniels, (being that he's a SS) help stop the run, and (being that we like blitzing our SS) put pressure on Schaub.

Since when did this man become Superman?

We also start two quality corners, an all pro type talent free safety, 4 defensive lineman, and 3 linebackers.

Football gods, please don't let us lose this game. Let Harper have 10 tackles, 5 int's, 10 pass defensed, 5 sacks, 3 FF and 2 fumble recoveries. Anything less, I'm afraid we're going to lose and we'll have our scapegoat.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

With this crowd I'm not sure even that would be enough.

Here's something to consider. With the bad acting job by the Giants on Monday night with the faking of injuries, Tony (Yoda) Dungy has gone on record saying that the Texans were the worst team at doing this that he coached against. I know the texans have a new DC in Phillips but it is possible this went on since Kubiak has been the head coach. Might be something Payton may want to use, a little no huddle against the Texans since I'm sure the NFL will be looking at this closely for the next few weeks.

Dungy made similar comments during The Dan Patrick Show, saying that the Texans were the biggest offenders when playing the Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning, who routinely operates without a huddle.

gw has to put harper on owens at least in the redzone, its just a better option then shanle. and make him pay if he wants to be a hero in the endzone.

As long as an offense is allowed to run a no-huddle style system, I have no problem with it. I don't see much difference in the strategy really.
