Should the Saints get away from the kind of passing attack we now have? By that, I mean, should we go to a more conservitive approach and dink and dunk our way down the field, thereby eliminating possible mistakes made in the passing game?
Should we get big possession receivers and rely less on big plays and speedy receivers? Should we devote less cap space to the offense and commit more to the defense? Just curious to what you guys think. |

1. Teach our WR\'s how to run routes, block downfield and catch a freaking football. 2. Teach our TE\'s how to run north/south and catch a freaking football. 3. Teach T-rex how to run with the ball and catch a freaking football. 4. Add a sure handed vet (ala Willie Jackson with better speed) to become the possession WR we\'ve lacked for a while. However if 1 2 and 3 are done this is probably unneccessary. 5. Adjust play-calling depending on what our opponents defense is doing. I think our style is fine. Our execution and play-calling are deficient. |

As I\'ve said before, I think playing from behind so much had a lot to do with some of Mike\'s funky play calling...and I agree with Danno that all in all the \"style\" of the offense is fine.
I think Boo Williams might just be the TE the saints have been lookin\' for for years. IF Ernie could just teach him how to block he might end up in the Pro Bowl. I think Joe Horn is the best rout runner the Saints have, and beyond him there ain\'t much. Perhaps the new coach will light a fire under some azzez. I guess I pretty much agree with Danno. Execution is the key, cause the Saints have the talent. |

Reminds me of McKay\'s old line when questioned by a reporter,\" What do you think of your teams execitution?\" McKay,\" I\'m all in favor of it.\"
Yes execitution, coughcoachingcough, is the problem. We have the personel to go down field, this is a big play offense. Yes you always have to dink and dunk a bit, but with the players we have we need to go vertical as well. Deuce, Arron, Horn and Stallworth(when he plays and holds onto the ball) are all playmakers who can make something happen. We need to give theses guys chances to create big plays, create mismatches, one on one coverages give them the damn ball. [Edited on 1/22/2004 by saint5221] |

I think the answer is quite the opposite. I think the Saints need to make more big throws down the field to Horn, Stallworth, and Lewis. I think we need more 15 yard crossing and seam routes. If we get the TE involved down the middle and put the ball down the field on 20 yard outs or comebacks on downs OTHER than 3rd and 17, then we\'ll open up the middle of the field. If we do that, then those dump offs to Deuce (read SCREEN) and the underneath crossing patterns wher you drag a guy like Horn across a zone will work better. I thought our passing game was centered to much on passing routes run 10 yards or less from the line.
