Game rewind
My Monday afternoon ritual has been to rematch the game and get a feel for the line play and coverage schemes. Not sure anyone not Jed this but on the Texans first drive, the 3 and long screen to Johnson was a well executed play by the Texans except for the fact his knee went down while the ball was at the 22. He needed to get to the 23. The ref was initially going to spot it at the 22 but while running to spot the ball his momentum took him to the 23. What could have been a huge stop turned into a TD 4 plays later. Oh well, a win is a win, I just hate seeing that happen. Those first drives really set the tone.

They also missed a blatant hold on Andre Johnson. Even Hokie and Henderson were laughing that the Saints got away with it right in the face of the ref. They aren't robots, they make mistakes but for the most part they do a good job, especially on the reviews.

Yeah, for as much as I will complain about a bad call, because some of them are absolutely ignorant, they do get an amazing number of things right.

I have read where some people don't like the replay. For the life of me, I can't see why anyone would be against it. I am totally opposite. I would like for them to be able to replay the penalties, as suggested in an earlier thread.
During the lean years, I always thought that the referees called against us. I even wondered about corruption. It is not that far of a stretch...especially nowadays that we are certain that in some sports referees do cheat and have been caught. I mean...if you wanted to fix the game, what better place to start than the only guys on the field that are doing their jobs for less than 7 digits. Giving the team the option to review a penalty would give them a little more to think about, IMO. I know it will never happen, but wouldn't it be nice? |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

If you watch a game closely you'll find a penalty happening on almost every play. At that rate the game would probably just be ending now after reviewing all of them....and we still would have won! Who Dat????

Selecting the master ref would be a whole new problem, though. |
