New Orleans Saints Week 3 Recap: Saints Comeback in Throwbacks Over Texans
The New Orleans Saints were able to overcome a very agressive and mostly effective offense and defense of the Houston Texans to pull off their second win of the season by the final score of 40-33. The Saints only lost the first quarter by a score of 0-10 and were victorious in the remaining three quarters, 10-6 in the second, 7-3 in the third and finally 23-14 in the fourth to secure the win.
Drew Brees was less than stellar to start out in this contest, throwing not just one but two interceptions, the first one on a pass intended for WR Devery Henderson to CB Johnathan Joseph about midway through the second quarter and the other on one intended for TE Jimmy Graham to FS Danieal Manning two-thirds of the way through the third. He did, however, keep his composure enough to rally the troops and come away with an impressive comeback through the remainder of the third and fourth quarters to come away with the victory for the home crowd! On the day, Brees was 31/44 for 370 yards, 3 TD’s and 2 INT’s for a quaterback rating of 99.6 and a 70.5% completion percentage. Read the rest here: New Orleans Saints News |

Negatives - No playmakers on defense.
- Injuries on the O-Line that has no depth. - 3 DL aligment is usless. - A lack of pressure from the front 4. - Zone coverage is bad. - Can't cover opposing TE's. The league sees this. Positives - Brees is great. - Sproles is an amazing football player. - Moore is a playmaker. - Henderson and Meachem continue to shine. - de la Puente and Brown stepped up. - Graham took shots to his body and ego and stepped up. - Greer gets the most out of his abilities. - The defense contained a very good rushing attack. - Kasay. He just deserves mention. LOL. - Saints 2-1. Falclowns 1-2. |

Here is the difference between today's Saints and the 'Aints of yesteryear. Today, we can be down 31-3 at halftime and you can bet your sweet bippy (I just couldn't resist adding a phrase that fits the 'Aints era) that I am going to be in that recliner hoping...no...expecting a comeback.
In the 'Aints era, you could figure 31-3 at half meant that it would be something like 50-10 at the end. The other team will not score as many in the 2nd half as they will be controlling the clock and we would usually score a meaningless TD right before the final ticks of the clock ran off. |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

The first one was on Drew, bad pass. The second one Jimmy Graham ran the wrong route and has taken the blame for it. It was a timing route and Drew threw to the spot where Graham was suppose to be but wasn't.
