For sure, the Panties are a good team, their record does not reflect their play. They should be 3-2 I think. But it is kind of annoying how Greg Williams gets anointed this defensive coordinator guru by every sports caster that talks about him. I'm kind of sick of it, GW is good, but he has not shown "Defensive guru" type play calling as of late, (by as of late, I mean its been a hell of a long time). They need to have a big defensive game, maybe this upcoming weekend against the Tampon Bay?

We have to much breakdowns, say we get pressure from the left then the pressure from the right is nonexistant and vice versa. Greer did a horrible job on that long pass Smit caught, same with Jenkins on Williams TD run. I was expecting bigger things from Jenkins this year but I just haven't seen it yet. What does make me happy is that we play quite bad and still come out with a win.

Until this starts costing us actual games, I think everyone needs to chill on this subject. The Panthers had a top 5 offense coming into this game.

The Panthers were averaging 428 yards per game and had the 5th ranked offense coming into this game. We held them to 381 yards which is lower than their average. I'm actually more worried about our run defense than our pass defense because it seems like at least once per game, we give up a monster run play which goes for 60 yards or so. That is disconcerting.

Also, btw, the Panthers had the 14th ranked defense coming into this game and held their opponents to an average of about 350 yards per game and we rolled up about 450 yards on them.

I think the real problem with this particular game was that the officiating was horse****. Can I say horse**** here? I'm not sure I hope I don't get banned lol.

Pretty much sums up what I'm thinking as well.

I almost punched myself out of frustration after the lackluster effort Jenkins showed on Williams' TD... I thought he was supposed to become a superstar this season?!

I think it is safe to say that the Panties have found a QB to build around. They could get scary good over the next few seasons. It will be interesting.

The good news is Atlanta looks like crap. :D

Like others the most important thing we need to be teaching is squaring-up and tackling. Having 300 packages is useless if our guys can't tackle properly. For the life of me I can't understand how we can't gain a yard on bubble screens yet opposing offenses are able to get about 10 yards a pop on us. It's sad to watch.

I also have the feeling that we may be asking our guys to do too much with all of the different looks. It's not like the complex schemes are allowing us to pile-up sacks or turnovers (I believe we're -3 on the year). On a few of the misdirection plays (like the option) we had guys who were so far out of position they weren't even on camera. Those are mental errors for which there is really no excuse at this point in the season, and it could be that we're so worried about confusing the opposing offenses that we're confusing ourselves.

While tackling was bad, and though I'm also concerned with the consistency and game planning of our defense, on the Smith touchdown, Greer had very good coverage. Steve Smith made a great play and those are plays you just got to tip your hat to him.

The rules of the game strongly favors the offense. You can't touch a QB or WR without getting flagged. The Saints have one NFL quality LB. They don't have a true NFL quality pass rusher. Harper is a liability in coverage. Tackling is a lost art in the NFL and the Saints are in no danger of bucking that trend. With all that being said, I truly think they have actually improved since the season started. And, I think the improvement will continue.

Tired of seeing dropping in zone coverage on 3rd and long and giving up a long gain for a first down. Bring the pressure.
