this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Peyton Manning and Peyton Manning alone caused his team to be booted out of the playoffs EVERY year by throwing stupid interceptions. It\'s an open and shut case!! Then by the same reasoning, Brooks caused the Saints to be \"booted ...

Right now it\'s Peyton that\'s on trial. Do you admit Peyton caused his team to lose every year in the playoffs or not? |

I\'m still not sure why you\'re debating Peyton on a \"draft Eli\" thread. It seems like you\'re trying to smokescreen for Brooks.
But I would say that Peyton is a bit like Favre in that you can count on him to throw interceptions at bad times. That being said however, I think the Colts lost the Jets because they didn\'t have a real ground game. The Jets knew that Peyton wasn\'t getting any running help, so they played the pass the entire game. Against the Patriots this year, I think that loss had more to do with the Patriot defense than any choking. But I\'ll grant you, like Favre, Peyton will occassionally just melt down and throw enough picks to kill you. But I don\'t think that happened in every single playoff appearance. But again, I have no idea why we\'re talking about Peyton when the issue in the thread is whether to draft Eli? |

Well that all depends Billy. How many dropped passes, penalties, and missed blocks were there. You know, according to YOU, those things hurt a TEAM just as much as a TURNOVER by the QB. So, if there were more than 4 turnovers, dropped passes, penalties, and missed blocks commited by the rest of the Colts TEAM then by the reasoning you used earlier this year to defend Brooks the answer is no. The TEAM let Manning down, not the other way around. Or, at least, that\'s the conclusion that would have to follow if we use YOUR logic.
Or, if you like, I\'ll answer yes to that question. I\'ll say that Peyton Manning is a choke artist and personally responsible for keeping the Colts out of the Super Bowl for the last three seasons. What then does it say about Brooks that you would TRADE BROOKS STRAIGHT UP FOR MANNING? Manning is a choke artist and he is personally responsible for keeping his team from going to the Super Bowl, BUT HE IS STILL A BETTER CHOICE THAN BROOKS. By your own admission. Either way Billy, you\'re getting owned. I feel a BnB picture coming. |
