I'd test those waters. If he'd even accept being an assistant coach, which pays a fraction of what he's used to.

But again, a 26 year old Darren Sharper wouldn't help us much if our front 4 can't get pressure on the QB.

I have to admit our Defense is struggling... There is many factors to this..

1) We can't tackle... I have seen High School kids do a better job of wrapping
up and finishing a tackle.. We commit to the tackle and hope we hit somebody... Maybe if they were fined 10k for each missed tackle things would change

2) Linebacker play... I know Vilma is playing with a bad wheel... But our Linebacker play just sucks.... If we had some better LB's maybe that would take the heat off the line some...

3) bend but don't break defense... Well we have been bending and breaking, we are giving up too many big plays... Partly again because of bad tackling, partly because of bad LB play... Partly because of blown coverages.. This needs to be fixed...

REMEDY...

Simplify the Defense a little bit... Sometimes our defense is so complex it's hard to digest.... Get some better LB's I have been stressing this since the off season began last year.. We need to be a more cohesive unit out there..

What to Do about Greg Williams I know he is a good coach... But we have had many good coaches here before...

It's what have you done for us Lately time... And I just don't see that he has done anything since the Superbowl year... Maybe it's time for a change after this season.. We have so much potential on defense with some young players but the job is not getting done...

I'm inclined to agree in principle with just about everything written so far, but I'd like to add a slightly different angle...

1) We telegraph our defense. Our front seven have no guile. Our defensive backs look like the chump at a poker table "bluffing" blitzes.

2) We give every receiver the respect due Randy Moss in his prime. Most can't juke themselves out of the shower, but we give a double amputee WR a 10 yard cushion. We supposedly have lockdown corners in Greer, Porter and Robinson. WTF?

3) Our D doesn't pay attention. One guy runs one way, everyone follows. No discipline, no responsibility, no edge contain. The book is pretty simple, fake one way, go the other, and you'll gain 45.

4) Bull rush is the only rush. Not hard to block a bull rusher. You use his weight and momentum against him. Good technique makes simple work of our linemen. Wonder why qbs and rbs have career days? Spin moves, swim moves, hand slaps, jukes. No one fears any of our linemen.
