Now, I would be more in favor of moving up to get Eli or Drew if we could secure a QB like Brunell (I saw a topic with him as subject, but haven\'t read it yet). He seems like a good QB to have as a leader and a tutor to a younger QB. However, is he willing to go through that again? Giving up all these picks and personnel to get Eli concerns me on many fronts. First, how long is Deuce gonna hold up. The average shelf life of an NFL starting RB is like 5 or 6 years. He\'s got two already. If we\'re not shooting for superbowl in 2004 then we\'ve thrown out another year of Deuce. Second, our dependable WR\'s are aging quickly (and some are getting too mouthy). Unless Stallworth comes around we\'re not gonna have any strength there. And we\'ll lose the \'04 picks to be able to add at WR. Like WhoDat said, this would be a huge PR move (getting Eli). But to do so would really hamper our positioning for a superbowl in the near future. Are we prepared for that? |

FYI- Throwing in the 16th overall pick along with our other 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders would bump us up to the 2nd overall pick, leaving us 200 points shy of the 1st.

Roethlisberger would be ok I guess, Not as solid a PR move as Eli.

QB is low on the position of need chart. Let\'s see what happens at MLB, CB, OLB, CB, DT, OT, RB, WR, and then we can worry about QB, OK? Brooks isn\'t going anywhere. Bouman is another \"Delhomme\" in that Haslett believes he can be the starter (or at least he did a few years back), and supposedly JT reminds coaches here of a young Delhomme in his smarts and emotional level of play. We\'re set - worry about LB or CB. If you want to talk about blockbuster moves that will help this team, tell me how we\'re going to get Woodson or Springs or Bailey.

...or Vilma, DJ Williams, and Lavalais. I know this wouldn\'t address the CB position, but could you imagine the aforementioned, along with Howard, Charles Grant, Sully, and Cie Grant??? A young front seven that is allowed to grow together like this would make my football pants go crazy. And it wouldn\'t be possible if we traded away all our picks.

One thing that really has me looking at the draft for New Orleans with interest is Impact , pure and simple . Haslett could be looking down the barrel of a gun if he does not improve the team . If there was a run on corners early , I do not see Haslett reaching for one , the man needs impact or a scape goat to keep his job potentially . Most likely day one of free agency , the Saints sign 2 to 3 players for immediate impact on defense .Haslett has stated otherwise but we have heard that song before .
