Hindsight > Perfect Vision: Jonathan Goodwin

Talking to a vendor of mine on the left coast this week who's a 49er's fan and she says that Goodwin, along with the coaching change is why Alex Smith now has a career and the 49ers D can get off the field now instead of being wore down by the third quarter in every game.

She sent me an article with this quote about Goodwin...

"I certainly hope so. Jonathan's been very important for us. He understands and knows what he's doing, gets everybody organized quickly, efficiently, and he's Cool Hand Luke in there at the center position. Understands the game and he's been really good for us." -San Francisco 49ers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman when asked about his status/availability...

So, How big a mistake was it letting this guy geaux?

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Maybe none. Our current line isn't doing too bad and it's young. That gives us a lot of space to grow BY THE PLAYOFFS BABY!!! Who Dat?

Well if DLP keeps playing like he has i would not say it was a mistake at all. That not saying there is no room for DLP to improve.

Wasted project with Kreutz. Obviously there are budgetary constraints, but now we're thin everywhere on the o-line. Brees effectiveness comes from a line that recognizes what the front 7 are doing and is in perfect harmony on protection. DLP may be doing ok against the Colts and the Rams, but it's a lot to ask against Detroit, Giants, Falcons and Bucs. There would be no doubt with Goodwin, and at least DLP would be a solid backup across the entire line.

Really... really???

Goodwin? Give me a break. It has nothing to do with Goodwin and everything to do with the coaching of Alex Smith.

Goodwin sucked and did not fit our system here and he was allowed to go to Tampa... and he didn't help them out did he?

I once said... "We will get a ring before he got one". WE DID and HE DIDN'T.

Euph, I think you are confusing Goodwin with Faine.

LMAO you're totally right, lol.

Sorry I haven't had enough coffee in me. I still think its the coaching around Smith and his development. No knocking Goodwin, he's a solid player but at what costs.

I don't know, I think Goodwin is still better than DLP, plus Brees really liked him.
Faine was a bust, and who did he replace? another big FA signing by Cleveland
seems like teams like overpaying for our guys

I guess you call LeCharles bust because he got injured but while playing for the Saints he was the best damn center we ever had not named Jerry Fontenot.
