this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The thing is that the Saints' D does not need to be the best in the league in any category - they only need to be at least as good as the D on the other side of the field ...

The thing is that the Saints' D does not need to be the best in the league in any category - they only need to be at least as good as the D on the other side of the field on any given Sunday.
The Saints' O should ultimately be the one to carry the team to its victories with Brees as the QB, while the D should just take care not to be the reason why they lost a given game. GW's D philosophy is one of high risk/high reward, and while the stats may state that historically the risk has not payed off... it sure makes for some entertaining games!
