Charlie Garner too be released
I know he is kinda old, but he could be a good back up for duece. He is expected too void his contract, buy paying out of it and will be a unrestricted free agent come March. He will have too pay 400,000 to void his final year in Oakland. :casstet:

Here you go, mutusos....
Raiders\' Garner to test waters Tuesday, February 10, 2004 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1732190 Oakland Raiders running back Charlie Garner will pay a $400,000 buyout in order to become a free agent on March 3, ESPN.com\'s John Clayton has learned. Garner fell short of hitting incentives that would have automatically voided the final year of his contract. Garner was scheduled to make $4.227 million this season. He averaged 4.6 yards on 120 carries and was third on the team with 48 receptions. Garner turns 32 Friday, but he should draw a plenty of interest in free agency. He probably will draw looks from the Bucs, Lions, Cowboys and possibly the Super Bowl champion Patriots. Garner, nicknamed \"IO\" (Instant Offense) by former Raiders coach Jon Gruden.... I saw this last night and was interested at first but then realized, we already have plenty of overpaid elders on this team. |

The Saints would be much better off spending their cap money elsewhere. Lovie Smith wants a pass catching back so he can run a west coast offense in Chicago, so I expect Garner to wind up there.

I like Garner a lot. I\'m not certain that he\'s ready to be a back-up at this point.
I wonder who the Raiders plan on starting at RB if they let Garner walk? If they are in the market to draft a RB, I wonder if they\'d be interested in a trade..... |

Norv Turner is the kind of guy who likes to run his backs 50 times a game for 3 yards a carry, so I\'m thinking they draft somebody 2nd or 3rd round and just go with what they have this year. Wheatley and Crockett are big guys who fit into a power run game. Also, Oakland doesn\'t really have much cap room to make any real moves either, if I remember correctly.
