Interesting theory about Ingram going forward
From Rotowire so it's Fantasy based.
I thought that it's interesting enough to post during a bye week. With Drew Brees reaching 37 straight games with a touchdown pass, 10 short of Johnny Unitas' record streak of 47 consecutive games, there could be a growing emphasis in the Saints' play-calling to make sure Brees reaches that mark, potentially to the detriment of Mark Ingram. Spin: Certainly neither Saints' coaches nor Brees would openly admit that the record is of any importance, but the fact is that Unitas' record has stood for over 50 years. The Saints are already a pass-happy offense but could see an increase in red-zone throws if Brees needs a touchdown to keep his streak alive. Ingram, who leads the Saints in rushing touchdowns, would likely be the one to suffer, especially since he has little value as a receiver. With the messy situation at running back in New Orleans, Brees' pursuit only complicates matters for the rookie back. |

The breaking of that record will be a natural occurrence. It almost seems automatic, and Drew deserves it regardless of whose stats get in the way.
It's a collective sigh of relief each week that we all take, then the rest of the game the situation dictates. NOT that we cannot get a rushing touchdown first, but Drew needs this. We need this. The NFL needs this. I feel the same about the '72 Dolphins' record, but I don't want it to be this year's Packers to do it. I was pulling for the Patriots in '08 and they went down in flames. You may be onto something!
Wasn't the train wreck, also known as Week 8 (Saints vs Rams) almost over before Brees threw a TD pass? The chance of Brees not breaking this record would rank 2nd behind death by meteorite. |

I don't think these guys care much about stats.
We pulled Brees in the Colts game and he could have set all kinds of records and extended his 350 yd passing streak. |

If the Colts weren't playing flatter than a half-dollar after inflation, then Brees may have stayed in the game. |

I like to think that our final drive for a TD in the Rams game was to give a confidence boost. The bottom line is, there is no conceivable way that the Saints could have won that game at that point. That was to keep Drew's streak alive. |

Honestly, Drew looked a little disappointed when pulled from that game. I'm all for him setting all the records he can set --- In the Superbowl --- This year. Alaska |

WAIT A SECOND HERE!!!! Maybe the loss to the Rams wasn't so accidental after all. If we play the remaining 6 games in the regular season then go to the playoffs as a wild card and make it to the Super Bowl....that's 10 games. Ah ha!!! That's why they look so good sometimes. The Saints are intentionally losing so they get a wild card birth instead of having a bye week!!! They are going to try to tie the record in the Super Bowl! It all makes sense!!!!! Sean Payton and Drew are conspirators!!!
