So thankful to be a Saints Fan.... My thanksgiving table what am I thankful for
I am thankful Dave Dixon, Russell Long and so many others were able to convince/cajole the NFL to granting a Franchise I am thankful John Gilliam ran the opening kickoff back for a TD back in 1967, igniting a fire in the belly of a 10 year old that stays there to this day I am thankful for the likes of Billy Kilmer and Doug Atkins and Steve Stonebreaker for making those early years fun despite the futility I am thankful we didnt leave Tulane Stadium early and really did see Tom Dempsey's kick.... really... I did... not kidding..lol I am thankful for those visionaries (Dave Dixon again and John Mckeithen and others) who said we could build the greatest stadium in the world and they did I am thankful for #57 and the Dome Patrol I am thankful for Jim Mora bringing winning football after waiting 20+ years I am thankful Hakeem Dropped the Ball I am thankful Tom Benson saved the team from moving to Jacksonville I am thankful the NFL "convinced" him that the grass was not greener in San Antonio I am thankful that Mickey Loomis rolled the dice on a young Coordinator from Dallas to run the team I am thankful Sean Payton decided to give us a chance I am thankful Sean Payton's wife didn't cringe at the blue tarps I am thankful that Sean Payton took a chance on a bum-shoulder quarterback and did not draft Matt Lienhart as this poster wanted (which is why I frequent B&G.com and not a football coach...lol) I am thankful Sean Payton told Reggie Bush's agent *%&* YOU when he called and said Reggie did not want to be drafted by the Saints I am thankful that Drew and Brittany Chose to call New Orleans home... that Brittany snoozed while SP got lost I am thankful that Drew and Brittany are a part of our community... Can you imagine this place.. inside and outside of the Dome.... without Drew? I am forever and a day thankful that I was able to experience that incredible opening MNF in 2006 with my Son.... I will always remember the emotions of that night I am thankful Brett Favre decided to be a gunslinger once more time and Tracy Porter was ready I am thankful to have that experience after 43 years of waiting with my daughter in tow this time. I am thankful both of my kids have the same fever as their dad....Each attended their first Saints game at 9 months old... And so that night, when we won the NFCCG they were there with their significant others crying WITH me over finally reaching the SB I am thankful I decided to stay in NO and sell my Super Bowl Tickets... really I am thankful for the 23 family and friends that came to N.O. because "they had to be with ME when the Saints finally won the SB"... No way I could have created that in Miami I am thankful for Ambush I am thankful for TP picking Peyton Manning I am thankful to have seen Drew raising the trophy... then his son... then huggin his head coach "you just won the Super Bowl.... So did YOU".... as an entire city cried joyful tears... I am thankful to have seen the city come unglued in celebration.... yet in a city maligned about crime.... that there was ZERO violence.... it was a Football lovers Woodstock.... I am thankful to have seen the greatest victory parade known to man In short... i love my family and at the age of 56 I know that there are more important things to be thankful for.... but this is a Saints board... and I thank God forever he made me a Saints Fan.
