LSU's Clayton can't break 4.6 (3rd rounder?)
From espn's monday combine notes, or as Buddy D calls it, the "NFL compound".
"(LSU) wide receiver Michael Clayton is going to have to run better in his campus workout or he might get lost in the shuffle, because there are so many good players at the position. I mean, he's got size and all, and looks really smooth. But he only ran in the 4.6s (on Sunday) and you could tell he was really pressing. Maybe it was nerves, I don't know, because you watch him on tape, and he sure plays faster than that. I'll be interested to see how he does when he has his pro day." |

So if Clayton\'s around when our second round two pick comes around, should we pick him?

That is a definite yes. Anquan Boldin ran the same time for his workout and look at what he done this past year. Clayton is a good route runner, blocker, catches well and goes over the middle. He\'s just too good to pass in Rd. 2

I\'m not too concerned about his forty time either, but ....
you know who is... The first letter of his name is H and the second letter is ASLETT! Seriously, my dream offseason is now as follows: FA: sign Dhani Jones (or Marcus Washington), Fernando Bryant, Nick Harper and Cornelius Griffin Draft: round one, Vilma round two a, Dunta Robinson round two b, Clayton round three, Rod Davis After that... don\'t care. An aside: Laugh if you want about Harper. He\'s a restricted free agent that can be easily acquired this year cause of the mess Peyton\'s contract is causing in Indy. This kid has great upside. Check out his stats if you don\'t believe me. He could be the steal of free agency. Stop laughing. http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/223763 .02 |

Dunta Robinson is so friggin over-rated. I do not want to see what bum in a Saints uni next year.
As for Clayton, he will still go in the 1st round. He won\'t fall past the Eagles or Panthers at the end of the first. |

I\'m hoping this debate heats up if and when Mike Williams (USC) declares. Then Clayton would slip a little further. I would take a talent like Clayton with one of those two 2nd rounders, but.. Does anyone else feel like the Saints need a BIGGER receiver. Everyone is small.. I understand that is what Boo is for, but he can\'t take it to the house. Tall and quick.
P.s. I Like Harper a lot. He wuold definitely be an upgrade over D. Carter |
